Check the pickup in the fuel tank. Depending on what that pick up is, and howitzer is shaped, the angle caused by going uphill may be such that the pickup is sucking onto the floor of the tank, blocking the flow of fuel. The alternate is that the pickup is actually exposed to air when the fuel angles away from it going uphill, or the flexing of the pickup creates an air leak in the pickup. If none of this applies, then I support the previous answer;fitting an inline electric fuel pump , a low pressure one should keep the injection pump supplied with the right amount of fuel at all times.
You might consider adding a low pressure electric pump to keep diesel flowing and pressure in the lines
