I have a 96 ford explorer that is leaking an orange color i have replaced the water pump along with gasket the heater core thermostat and 02 sensor please help with the leakage problem

3 ways of loosing the coolant/water search for leak -hole in radiator,hoses at connections or damaged,water pump,heater core and hoses //blown head gasket coolant being burnt will show white smoke out tail pipe ,oil will show milky cocoa color ---//transmission oil cooler lines have internal damage in radiator and transmission has fluid draining

All GM cars from 1994 to on up the 3100/3400 engine is famous for bad intake gaskets. When the gasket goes you loose coolant by either externally outside the engine or internally inside the engine. Check the oil for overfull condition and it will look like bright orange or milkshake color. Also if you drove on it overheating or if its full and overheats right away you also blew a head gasket. A compression test will confirm this. If you replace with good gaskets with the metal and rubber type do not use the plastic cheaper version. Then the intake gasket leak will never happen again.

Check coolant leak, some hose or radiator clogged or water pump go to bad.

There is a gasket on the base of the housing, the housing you speak off has the sensor and a heater hose and bolts to top of the intake and also hold the thermostant, this housing does contain a rubber molded gaske, i have replaced a few of these, heres the problem i have run into a couple where the plastic was eaten away in the area that holds the gasket in place. if you remove it you will see a groove that the gasket sits inside of, if the groove is broken then replace the housing but if its good then all you need is the gasket, you will need to ask for thermostat housing gasket to engine intake, this gets confusing to a parts person as they may think you are asking for the thermostat gasket, also in the rear bottom of the housing theres a hose connected to the housing make sure thats not your leak, the hose may also be leaking. good day

CHECK AROUND WATER PUMP AREA.AND THERMOSTAT HOUSING FOR LEAKS.THE MECHANIC WHO PUT THE WATER PUMP ON MAY FORGOT TO PUT SEALANT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WATER PUMP GASKET CAUSING LEAKS.LOOK AROUND THERMOSTAT HOUSING FOR LEAKING.IF THERMOSTAT SEAL WAS DAMAGE DURING INSTALLATION IT WILL CAUSE LEAKING.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND RADIATOR .CHECK RADIATOR TOP AND BOTTOM HOSES FOR LEAKS AND CHECK HEATER PIPES AND HEATER CORES HOSES FOR LEAKS.IF ALL HOSES GOOD.CHECK FOR LEAKING CORE PLUGS.

take it to a mechinc shop and have them do a pressure test

Check your heater control valve ,they will leak intermitantly. Check for coolant residue.

a bad heater core will just leak. it could leak alot. do you ever smell antifreeze? check the coolant level. it can get pretty low before it will overheat. the thermostat should be ok but there could be corrosion. when you had the water pump replaced was the cooling system flushed? 2001, its probably due for a flush. what coolant does it take? (green or orange)

I am sure the pressure test will show the location of the leaks, also no explorer does not have a rear heater core.
