My check engine light is staying on. This began shortly after I had a new engine installed in my Windstar. I had my local oil change company check the code. The codes are P1537 and P1538. What do these codes mean and how do I fix them.
My 97' Ford F150 P/U failed a smog test. The check engine light doesn't turn on, and OBD Fault codes P1537 & P1538 appeared. Yes it may be the wires are shorting or its actually the problem with instrument cluster. Also get the vehicle scanned for any error codes stored in computer this will confirm whether is short circuit issue or actual problem:------ I suggest you few help links with accurate solutions to refer/go through:----Click the link below:------
No if the oil light has flickered you have oil pressure loss some time just belive the sensor do help us out. lifter do not cause oil pressure loss pressure is built in the rotation of the crankshaft. The knock under the plenum will point you to that cylinder that is affected, (main bearing) as for a 1995 the injectors can only cause a misfire but no knocking noise, will they honor the warranty
The upper intake manifold gaskets and isolators (the bolts that hold the manifold down) leak and cause the p0171 and p0174. The reason they leak is due to a missing baffle in the front valve cover which allows some oil into the upper intake which swells the gaskets and wears them. The manifold gaskets and valve cover should be replaced. But before having this done check to see if the black plastic hose on the back of the rubber intake hose(between the throttle body and maf) has dislodged. This happens alot when a new air filter is installed and will cause the same codes.
A couple of things could be wrong a bad oil pressure sensor, a short in
the sensor wiring, low idle oil pressure. Checking this is simple on
some models.
While disconnecting the sensor from its wired connector
and the light stays on is a short in the wiring, if it stays off its
hopefully a bad sensor. Before just replacing the sensor I would either
buy a gauge to check the pressure at the engine and thus checking the
sensor also. I HATE DUMMY LIGHTS!!!
Gauges are simple, easy to install
and easy to see a problem before engine damage occurs. On the bad end
of the spectrum of possible problems the oil pump may be worn out, or
even the engine may be worn out to the point oil pressure loss at low
idle or while oil is sloshing forwards at stop signs.
Yep 20 seconds on a machine turning 650 rpms is low on oil wil destroy the bearings in the pistons and crankshaft. Mechanics refer to the red check engine light as the idot light, because by that time it's to late the car ran low on oil and damaged the engine.Try putting some SPT oil treatment in and see if it will fix it temporally otherwise you may be looking for a engine overhaul. If the yellow check engine light is flashings you may have burned the rings up on the pistons and it is now burning oil, or more oil causeing it to throw a code for the 02 sensor. Good luck
We had a similar problem on our 1999 Windstar. Engine light stayed on from the day that we bought it. We tried O2 sensors (since that's what the used car guys told us it was) but that didn't fix it. Engine began to run rough and stall in colder, wet weather. My guru/mechanic finally discovered that it needed to have the intake gaskets replaced. Haven't seen the engine light in months... it feels kinda weird.
Hi, it is very easy to change but have go repair shop, first when u get sensor, they have to heat the sensor with gas light that use in welding, the neck right from where it tied the manifold and put small engine oil, then start losing it, and dont forget to remove the battery terminal when doing the work, when it lose then disconect the wire that is connected to the point where it is connected and fix the new one by tieting it firmly to the position and fix back the wire and battery head and start the car u will see that the check engine light is gone
Sounds like you have some EGR ports clogged up, remove the intake and look at the egr ports all but #1 cyl port will probably be at least partially clogged, hope this helps
