YOU will need the car on a hoist, doing it on the ground is almost impossiable, disconnect the filler neck at top, remove the straps, lower tank slow and disconnect wiring and fuel hoses, you need a special tool to remove the gas line retainer clips.

1999 ford contour is not getting gas? starts finally but when put in reverse it chokes and dies. battery finally holds charge
Check the fuel pump. It's inside the fuel tank. You can read fuel pressure from the schraeder valve fitting on the injector rail with a gauge. If low or no pressure is shown, then replace the fuel pump.

Fuel leak where fuel line connects to fuel pump 1999 Ford Contour Appears to be the connector elbow at the fuel pump is cracked, where can I get a replacement.
The dealer most likely has a replacement part. You can also get brass connections at Lowes, Home Depot or even PepBoys.

undo the straps that hold it then use a jack to hold it up slightly to get to fuel pump lines and wires then lower tank remove seal by un screwing the small flap draw pump out
