In the ring around the ignition switch (where your key is stuck) there is a recessed dimple. Get a ballpoint pen, insert into the dimple, hold it there while turning your key to the lock position (if it's not already there) and remove the key.

Just turn your steering wheel left or right side. if it moves, then goody for you. but if doesn't, it probably means that the locking system in the steering wheel is damaged. for this, you can just turn the steering wheel opposite to the direction of the car wheels. most of the time, cars are turned off with the wheels turned on the opposite directions, which makes the key get stuck in the ignition due to pressure in the steering wheel. when the pressure is released from the steering column, a click can be heard and key is released.

Terrian won't start boosted yesterday and then checked battery and it was charged right up ran good all day. Went to start this am and nothing the key won't come out of ignition

If key won't come out of ignition the problem is most likely park shift interlock. The park shift interlock is a device that won't allow vehicle to be started unless it is in park. Also the cable could be stuck.

My key gets stuck in the ignition. i have never had this problem before. the key slides in fine but it won't go to lock position. it was working fine all day until i had my oil changed. then it just quit,...

I am not sure what the cause is but mine started doing this the other day. My temporary solution is to wiggle the shifter while in the park position. You'll hear it clicking in the steering column. Between each wiggle back and forth try turning the key to the lock position. Sometimes mine take 3 or so tries, and sometimes 10 to 15. My car has also started to get stuck in the park position. I believe it is in direct relation to the ignition seizing up.

MY CAR IS ON AND WON'T TURN OFF KEY STUCK IN 2009 COBALT

try playing with shifter. move from park to low rapidly and push to park with some force. try this a few times. the shifter sends a signal to a lock actuator to allow your ignition to release key. if that doesnt work remove your steering wheel lower cover. usually acces 2-3 screws from underneath cover. u will see what looks like a gold pushbutton located near lock cylinder u may be able to get key released by manually actuating that solenoid

2006 Chevy Impala stuck in park

When you turn ignition on it releases a cable that is attached to the shifter also the shifter has a solenoid attached to it that is released when you step on the brake. Both times that I had the problem of button stuck and cant shift out of park the solenoid was sticking and wouldnt release .
