Hi. I have a 2001 Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDI van. My van started throwing out black smoke, I replaced the Air Sensor (Air Mass Meter) and it seemed to settle down. Now it's worse than ever and I'v also lost power, it will not climb gradients. I have a dignostic code P0930 or P0910 coming up, it tells me that someting is running too high. I'm baffled, any advice would be really appreciated. It starts first time every time from cold, and will run fine. It's just when I start moving and accellerating. Thanks People.

Hi, I have a 2.0HDI Expert which was doing the exact same thing as yours, blowing thick black smoke, sluggish and loss of power on gradients, a hissing sound and surging. I replaced the air flow meter but that didn't help. I was told to replace the turbo but a turbo expoert told me not to as it would blow white smoke if it was faulty. I was then told to replace the injectors but a diagnostic test showed them to be functioning fine. I was then told to look at the intercooler which had thick sludge at the lower left pipe. I replaced it today - Sunday 12th July and it is now driving like a new van. It now pulls me up gradients with ease in 4th and 5th instead of having to drop gear to get to the top. I got a replacement from Euro Car Parts for £147 inc VAT. To tell if this is your problem, look through the gaps in the lower section of the bumper at what looks like the radiator and look for sludge over the inside of the bumper and all over the pipe where it joins the back of the radiator (intercooler). Also open the bonnet and look down behind the grille for the same sludge. Hope this sorts it for you. Barry, Newtownards, Northern Ireland.

Hi
If you get surging, it's usually a problem with the injectors......
I have/had the same problem, lots of black smoke and the Peugeot garage couldn't find a fault, new EGR valve, I've been quoted £700 for reconditioned pump and injectors.
Took it to a garage in High Wycombe called PFT Partnership that have the state of the art diagnostics machine, everything fuel wish was ok BUT he heard hissing from the Intercooler and low and be hold there was a large crack in it.....£450 (Including fitting and diagnostics)later and the old van is running fine......fingers crossed......

I have a Peugeot expert 2 litre hdi runs fine on low revs but loses power and almost stalls when you put your foot down

Do you have an engine code when you check codes ?
If no codes, check fuel filter and air filters first.

Peugeot 407 2.0 hdi lots of black smoke when you put your foot down past 2000 rpm

The reason for the black smoke is that it is not getting enough air to burn the fuel completely. It could be a blocked air filter, obstruction in the air intake system, blown turbo, hole in tube between intake manifold and turbo,or a fault with the fuel system and injectors.

Citroen dispatch with thick black exhaust smoke.

Try blanking off the EGR valve where it mounts on the exhaust manifild, they dont do much usefull but are unreliable and leak ehaist gasses into the inlet, also they take pressure off the torbo leading to over fuelling.

Hi ,
you need to check the air pipes from the turbo as it sounds like you`ve blown a pipe they fail due to oil inside, quite a common problem and not expesive to fix

2005 peugeot expert 2.0 hdi turns off?

Sounds like a flakey connector - try hunting down all the connectors you can find under the bonnet. Separate them, spray with WD40 and reconnect. Start at the engine management computer (silver block with fins on and lots of wires coming out). Take great care not to bend pins.
