If the starter does not turn over the engine, the battery is probably flat.

If it does, and the engine does not fire, its either

a spark problem. Most common fault is the spark coil system (distributor or coil pack) has failed.
a fuel problem. Check that fuel is reaching the engine.
a fuel pump relay problem. This is behind the dash, and fail occasionally.
an ECU problem. If the ECU is running there may be a Check Engine light on the dashboard. Read the ECU code for a diagnostic start suggestion.
the ECU is dead (which happens) it has to be replaced with one from a wrecker.

2003 mitsubishi galant starts and drives great but if you stop it after 1 mile of 00 miles you then have to leave it for 4 to 5 hours before it will start again

when was the last time you change the fuel filter.and check your coil. good luck

It is your battery it may not be completly dead but it is too dead to run the starter. It take 300 -600 amp to run a starter and 20 amp to run a stereo

2003 galant wont start

Your timing belt might have busted. Mine did that in November of 2007.... I had to replace 2 of the 4 cylinders, along with the timing belt and housing. Total cost was a little over $1700.00
