Hi I have a 1997 Chrysler Sebring. I reversed my car out of the driveway, put it in drive to drive forward.... I then put my foot on the brake because I was waiting for my son to get in the car. While doing that I thought I had put my car in park but it was still in drive & I turned the car off. Then I realized what I had done & I put the car back in park & tried to start my car & it wouldnt start. Can u please help me. Please let me know why my car wont start any more.

Your reverse gear is actually first gear ... when you select reverse another 'cog' fits into the toothed wheels to change the direction of first gear ... to give you reverse...
It may be a sticky valve or just a bit of adjustment (workshop job..) that is required.
What you can try ..
Start the car ... move the lever through all the positions several times (foot on brake..). Keep your foot on the brake and then put it in reverse and rev the car. Hard!
Try doing it several times.
An auto transmission works on valves opening and closing. Reverse gear - in comparison with the forward gears - is seldom used. The reverse valve can 'stick'. Try forcing it to open ... frighten it ... but keep your foot on the brake...
Right behind the air box on the 2.4L engine. Note that this model car requires that the engine is off when checking the stick (unlike most cars). The procedure is to first get the engine up to operating termperature then put the car in park, engage the emergency brake, then put the car in drive low, drive 2, neutral, reverse then park. Shut car off then check transmission fluid level. Source - 2010 Chrysler Sebring owner's manual.
Sounds like a Transmission Torque Converter Clutch Try driving uphill with 1 foot on gas then tap the brakes at same time with other foot.. IF Engine does NOT rev up, the clutch is bad.
Click on the link for starter wiring. Not sure what's going on with your tranny? You can see in the diagram, the tranny module gets voltage from the crank position, ignition switch. You can also see the fuse, not only check the fuse, use a testlight and check voltage on fuse circuit.
Any testing, make sure functional parking brake is set and block the wheels. be safe. Safety is your responsibility.
Battery has a full charge and battery connections all good?
if you on a hill set the e brake then put in park. then when u wont to go again put foot on brake and release the e brake and put in gear try that and see i think this will help u
No, it is not normal. Most people use only one foot when driving, no matter the conditions. However, in this situation I think you may be able to recover this issue by keeping your left foot on the brake, put the car in gear, LIGHTLY apply the gas then slowly remove your foot from the brake. However, I would strongly recommend that you take your vehicle to a shop that can service your transmission and see what they say. It could be just a simple adjustment.
Don't know why? Try putting it in neutral and starting car.
