Is there a heat control valve on a Dodge ram , my truck heater gets warm eventually but takes forever even when the engine is up to 200 plus degrees , also the check valves off the intake , do they affect the heat , I do know they are bad and are affecting my air conditioner. It shifts when I accelerate and returns when I let off.

Check that the blend door covering the heater core is opening completely. It's vacuum actuated and the vacuum is heavier when you accelerate.

SOURCE: Can you have the idle air control valve checked to see if good?

I had a similar problem all it was a the rubber boot after the sensor was sightly disconnected and produced the same code. I would even take it as far if there is a decent rip in the boot would also cause the problem.

and yes you can test it

Where is the firewall for for the heater valve located. Need to check the heater valve for a 2003 dodge ram 1500

The heat control valve is located near the firewall (the back of the engine compartment) at or near the heater box on the passenger side of the vehicle. It has rubber hoses going in and coming out of it. It is either black plastic, or a brass color.
Good luck...

We've changed thermostats, flushed hoses, and got new heater core. 04 Dodge Durango still won't make heat. Engine takes forever to warm up.

Check the operation of the heater control valve, which you should find on the inlet hose to the heater core.

I have a 2004 Dodge ram 1500 5.7. Luke warm heat

are you talking about your heater core for heat in the truck ? is there a valve in the heater hose that you have to open to get the hoses hot to the core this is under the hood , follow the hoses , could be clogged core , does it over heat , or get up to temp should be about 190 normal temp for most motors why did you change these parts anyhow , did you use the radiator fix bars leak stuff that you put in , bars leak , if so you may have clogged your core , take the hoses off the core and blow it out ,pain in the but you went this far , ck for that valve to open

Removed water pump, impeller still in good shape not stripped off shaft. Removed heater core hoses flushed water thrue the connections on the block to the water pump INLET and outlet. flushed water thrue heater core and hoses. Going to put it back togeter today. Heater problem with 1994 Suburban. have replaced radiator, thermostat (3 times). Also flushed the system and have run water (via garden hose) directly through the heater core. the flow seemed good. The...

If your temp is jumping between 150-200 degrees then I am guessing you have an air pocket in the engine where coolant should be. The air pocket moves through the engine and when it gets to the water pump, it looses prime and doesn't move the antifreeze which causes it to warm up. Take the radiator cap off the radiator when the engine is cool. Start up the engine and let it run until the thermostat opens up. As the air moves it's way to the radiator it will escape and you will see the antifreeze level go down. Watch it run and as the level goes down add antifreeze until the radiator remains full. Then make sure your overflow tank is up to the required level and I bet your heater works a lot better after that.

Good luck.

My heater does not get hot. the temp. is around 200. it's just a little warm.

Since your blower is working and it is a heat issue, thats where we'll start,First thing is have you checked the coolant level in the radiator when engine is cold, make sure it is filled to top, next verify you have coolant in reserve ,Start your van and get it up to normal operation temperature,If your heat gauge on the dash works correctly it should be 190 degrees,Now lift the hood and locate the two heater hoses going into the heater assembly at the fire wall,Both hoses should be hot to hold on to,if both are hot and no heat inside your problem will be the blend air door in heater assembly.
if neither hose is that hot you need to replace the thermostat in the engine to get it up to 195 degrees.
if one hose is hot and one is luke warm then the heater core is blocked and to blame. hope this helps you.

sounds like you have a actuator problem or the heater core may be stoped up check and make sure actuator is moving if not replace

make sure both heater core hoses are hot to touch at operating temp if both are not hot replace heater core

and of course check your coolant/antifreeze and insure it is full no water no heat

Heater only blows warm air.

The hoses from your heater core should be very hot to the touch. Check the hoses going to the core from the water pump. It should be very hot. The return hose should also be very hot. Now check the hoses going to the core. If they are not the same temp, then your heater control valve is not working correctly or the vacuum is not working. At any rate, locate the vacuum line going to the heater valve. Remove the silver bar on the valve from the plastic plunger arm. You will have heat all the time now if it was only a vacuum problem. You can fix it later when it's warmer out. BTW a 200* thermostat will make your heater even hotter.
