First check your fuses if you haven't already, the ones under the dash and the ones under the hood, Second check your transmission fluid, most of the time when the fluid gets low it will cause this light to blink!

Service 4_wheel drive light periodically comes on and 4-wheel drive system will not engage or disengage. What could the problem be?

Could be 2 or 3 different things. Find the Trouble Code by Grounding out the 13th point in the plug, where the analizer (under the dash) would plug in. Turn the key on but don't start the engine. Count the blinks of the 4 wheel drive lights. 4 total blinks or 3,2,1. Each blink tells you where the problem is located: Switch, control modem, shift motor, or wiring. Ask your Chevy garage for the code information out of manual. GOD BLESS & GOOD LUCK....

My 98 trooper doesn't seem to have four wheel drive, the dash light blinks, but it doesn't seem to spin all four in the mud so I can't tell if its working, does this light just blink? Or should it stay...

I belive that it should stay constentley light. Try to put it into 4 wheel drive. Put it in reverse back up about 10' Put it back in drive and see if it works...Best of luck

O/D light blinking

have your trans oil checked it is telling you that something is not right
most cars dont have a trans oil check light so they use the OD OFF light as a warning

ABS light on and 4x4 light is blinking

Have someone check the wheel speed sensors. One is probably bad and not sending data to the computer. This will shut off your ABS system and all-wheel drive, because the system can't read the speed of one of your wheels. It needs input from all 4 wheels for the systems to work.

2001 gmc jimmy keeps kicking into 4 wheel drive

the 4 wheel low light will usually only blink because the low gear is meant for a very slow speed and usually wont activate with the vehicle in motion i would have to say the sudden switch to 4x4 though would probably be a short in the wiring some place

Warning light for 4-wheel drive

I had this problem on my 1995 Montero. The 4-wheel-drive indicator lights wouldn't stop blinking when I switched from 4-wheel drive to 2-wheel drive. It turns out that I had a slow leak in one of the front tires. After I fixed the leak and made sure the pressure was the same in both front tires, the problem went away.
This made sense to me because if one tire is much lower in pressure, it's closer to the ground, i.e. has a smaller radius, and therefore rotates more quickly. The manual says to drive in a straight line when disengaging 4-wheel drive but with the lower tire pressure on one side it was the equivalent of driving in a circle.
You could try checking your tire pressures and see if that makes a difference. Hope this helps.
