This is not a too difficult job but there are things you will need to know..

You can get all the information you need at: http://www.alldatadiy.com/

This will give you updates, parts costing, recalls, torque figures, capacities, how to's and spec's you'll need.

This is same information used by the automotive shops.

One year subscription is enough time to download all you need on your vehicle for future reference.

If this is the 420 V8 engine the job is reasonably straight forward. You will need 10.. 13 and 17mm wrenches and sockets. Everything is metric.

If it is the diesel engine job is similar. Also metric nuts and bolts. Coolant pump lives in the front of both engines . Need to remove Vee Belts and Fan shroud and Fan to do this job. Fan is held to hub with 4, 10mm head x 6mm bolts and are real fiddly to refit.

If you need a shop to do it try for one near you here:http://www.iatn.net/shopfinder/

What can I do if my water pump is leaking?Would I have to change all the water pump or does it have some kind of gascket that I have to change? Its a 2001 taurus V6

In most cases it is the water pump itself that is leaking. If you are going to go to all the trouble of replacing the water pump gasket you might as well replace the water pump too. Shouldn't cost that much due to the age of the vehicle. Just make sure that's is where you are losing coolant...Good luck

On my 1985 toyota mr2 i changed the water pump but water does not flow to the front of the car where the radiator is

Did you wait long enough for the thermostat to open? It takes a while to actually see the water move. The thermostat rarely gets stuck in the closed position, It's the other way around, it get's stuck open. So, don't blame the thermostat, I would drive it and keep an eye on the temp gauge, make sure it doesn't overheat. Why did you replace the water pump in the first place? Was it leaking? Check it out, hope this helps.

How do you change a water pump in a 1985 ford escort??

If there is not a tap (probably there isn't), detach some hose and collect the coolant in some container, if it is not water (shouldn't be water, use antifreeze to avoid corrosion). Loose the transmission belt driving the pump and the alternator by loosing a screw(s) on the alternator mounts and pressing the alternator with a lever in the desired direction, Be careful where you are pressing with the lever. Unscrew the bolts of the water pump and pull it ahead. Check the bearings and sealing and asseble all back. You may want to use the chance to clean the system with a special liquid, following the directions on the can.
