This Vehicle was equipped with a factory alarm..the toggle switch is for valet.

Go to advance auto parts or similar store and ask them to borrow a code reader. plug the code reader in under your dash board driver side and read the codes then find the reset warnings.

That toggle switch is for the security system. That year miata never came with any switches for the soft top of any kind. Most likely that is an aftermarket alarm system. Most factory alarm systems do not come with a toggle switch.
