98 ext. cab Ranger. Just bought from owner that never used the rear doors. Seems to be stuck at the bottom latch of both doors. Pulling the latch and tugging on the doors produces movement only at the top of the door.

That is because the lower latch is seized very bad. you can try to lubricate the hinge and let it sit but keep on spraying the latch to try and get it to free up

I have a 2000 dodge 1500 extended cab and can't open the rear doors. The problem is in the latch mechanism unit that is mounted to the underside of the door. the claw (thats what i call it) won't...

Had the same problem with my 99 ram. The problem is the bottom latch. It freezes up due to under use. The only way I could get mine open to fix it was to pull the door handle and get inside the cab and kick the door at the bottom at the same time as pulling the handle to get the latch to let loose. Had to kick it hard and several times. Good luck

I cannot locate the door ajar swich on my 99 ford ranger super cab

It's integral to the door latch. Is it stuck on saying the door is ajar? Spray some wd-40 into the latch and open and shut it a few times and it will clear up.

99 ford f150 extended door doesn't open. It seems that the latch on top of the door is stuck or disconnected from the handle.

Remove the interior door panel this can be done with the door closed. peel back the moisture barrier, look inside the door and you will see a latch mechanism with two cables next to it, the top cable releases the top latch and the bottom cable releases the bottom latch, the top latch cable is probably not mounted to the latch (anchored) you will probably have to replaace it with a new one, then it should work fine. Hope this helps, let me know

2001Chrysler PT Cruiser rear door stuck

Hey I happen to have the same car with the same problem. I ended up taking the inner cover off the hatch and replacing the latch itself. Did this by pulling the cover off far enough I could see the linkage and then pushed the arm on the latch itself to make it open, put a new one on and called it good. b Hope this helps.
