Pretty sure the mirror switch is the culprit(I'm assuming the joystick and selector switch are all one piece).

What's your problem? The side view mirrors on my 2002 Chevy Tahoe do not adjust using the toggle located on the driver side door panel.

The switch is a contact type. When you move the switch it complete the circuit by connect the two contacts points. After some time the switches wear out simply replace the switch.

Replace drivers side mirror 2001 chevy tahoe, mirror only

To just replace the mirror glass there are a few different styles, but they all pull off. I suggest you wear gloves and glasses. Get a grip behing the glass and pull out. You should see a round circular bracket in the center. The new mirror just snaps into the bracket. Center new mirror and push evenly in the center of glass until it snaps into place. Dont push in by holding the edges, you'll break it. If you don't see the circle or it comes off with the glass it was too damaged for just glass. Power or manual mirros differ inside, but the mirror replacement is the same. If you mean the entire mirror only, remove door panel. Lower window, remove electrical connector if power, remove 3 bolts attaching mirror to door. Remove.

The side view mirror of my 2002 Chevy Tahoe is distorted. I see double headlights, etc. What is causing this?

Thanks you for asking your question? I would be glad to help you.
The issue that you are having with this mirror is called separation. It's caused from the silver nitrate backing on the mirror pulling away from the glass. This is a common occurrence in some GM mirrors. Unfortunately the only solution is to replace the glass in the mirror.
You can either purchase a new mirror from the dealer, or you can purchase a used one from a junk yard. However, you may have the same issue with a used mirror in a short while. There is one other option. Some parts stores sell replacement glass with adhesive backs that you can place over top of the existing mirror. It's about 1/3 the price and works just as good!
You may find that GM will only sell the whole mirror assembly and not the glass, if this is the case it will be a fairly expensive repair, from between $90 to 200 for the mirror it self depending on if it's manual or electric and has heat and turn indicator.
Should you need further assistance in the installation of a new mirror please feel free to contact me.

Same problem. motor works

adjust your mirror to center with your hand manually and try the switch again. if it still dosn't work switch to the other side mirror and see if the other side goes up/down. if it does then replace the side that's not going up and have to replace the whole assembly. can't just replace motor.

Side view mirror moves downward and requires readjustment each day.

Hello. On the 2000 ES300 the seat memory buttons also remember the position of the side mirrors at the time of programming. Are you using the seat memory to bring your seat to position each morning? If so youl'll want to reprogram your memory button with the mirrors in the position that you want them to be and it will auto adjust the mirrors when you press the seat meory button.

Passenger side mirror popped out of housing, need to reattach

According to the factory service manual you need to first connect the mirror defogger terminals (if equipped). Next, line up the tab clips on the back of the mirror that fit into the slots of the mirror mount. Push in the bottom of the mirror fully and then use a cloth covered flat-tip screwdriver and place it between the top of the mirror and the mirror housing and press downward. This should engage the tab clips into their corresponding slots in the mount. When finished, check to see that the mirror adjusts properly. Sounds easy but I'll bet its tricky. I haven't done this repair before so write back with a comment and less us all know how it went.
