95 ford windstar door ajar stays on and interior lights stay on and not able to find door ajar sensors

I got the right door smashed in on my 93 ford ranger and the interior lights won't turn off, so ultimately I had to unplug the battery. I don't want to have to unplug and replug in my battery every time I go somewhere. Is there a wire I can cut? (I'm not planning on repairing the car, just making it drivable until next inspection)

I have a 1997 Ford Winstar. The problem is that my "door ajar light and dinger" stays on. If I get above 15 mph it will go off. But just as soon as I slow down to 15mph it will go off and stay on. I can't even leave the keys in the ignition with the car turned off.

I really don't have the money to take it to the dealership to have this fixed. All I want is to disconnect the sensor so I don't have to hear my dinger go off anymore.

    Thanks

These switches are inside the doors attached to the door latch assembles. If you know some one with a scan tool you can go into the body computer and see which one is showing open when all the doors are closed. The most likly one is the drivers side door or the two in the rear gate. I've replaced those the most.If you don't want to replace them you can unplug them and the lights will go off. Hope this helps. If you need more info let me know> Thanks Dan

The door sensor stays on when i open and close the side door on my 1998 ford windstar which causes the interior light to stay on.. what can i do to stop that from happening?

I had the same problem. Cheap way to fix is to remove fuse. Only problem with that is my power windows were on the same fuse so they wouldn't work without the fuse. Alternative was to remove the bulbs from interior lights and leave the fuse in. The door ajar light will remain on but at least your interior lights won't be on running down your battery.

Interior lights stay on after doors closed.

Had same problem with my 98 windstar. I checked all the doors to see which door it was and found it was the sliding door. I try w40 did not work i guess sensors were to worn. The only solution was to take sensor from the door and cross the black wires. It works no more light on.

My van dings all the time when under 20 mph and the light stay on for 15 min. after car is off. The door ajar light is on but all doors are shut. Is this an electrical problem? Is there a way to shut off...

one of the door/van loading door switches has failed it thinks a door is open so the the interior light stays on and the door open warning will ding the interior light should have a switch to disable it or take out the bulb but you cant stop the dinging until you find the faulty latch switch and fix it

Ford 2003 Windstar Interior Floor Lights Stay On

to repair this problem you must remove floor lights from seats and check the circuit for either a short or a stuck switch use a multi tester this can get to be irritating as the short may be not directly behind switch could be along wiring that runs through car my suggestion if your not electrically proficient is take it to an electromechanic shop or simply unplug the light from socket to avoid draining the battery.
