I got a saaab 99 9-5 se 2.3l turbo when i step on the gas i get a weird noise like a tapping/whirling noise and stops if i take foot off gas. when in park i have a semi engine tap i cant seem to figure out the problem?

COULD BE WORN TURBO BEARING CAUSING TURBO ROTOR TO MAKE TAPPING NOISE GET A STETHESCOPE LISTEN AROUND THEN ENGINE BECAREFUL WATCH DRIVE BELT DONT GET HANDS, CLOTHES HAIR JEWRELY CAUGHT IN MOVING DRIVE.LISTEN AROUND ENGINE.THE STETHESCOPE CAN HELP YOU PIN POINT THE NOISE.YOU CAN BUY STETHESCOPE AT SEARS OR ANY AUTO PARTS STORES.

no brake pad linings
there is a small spring plate that rubs on the disc when the brakes are applied if the pads are below safe thickness

If it accelerates OK and nothing else seems wrong I wouldn't worry about it because it is probably just changes in the air flow volume through the air-intake system causing this whine!!

Some whirling noises

suspect it is warped disc rotors. If the pedal pulsates under your foot on light braking I would take it to a brake shop for investigation of the fault. Any noise or unusual incidents with brakes can become critical if ignored.

Check all of your turbo hoses and connections. One may be loose.

If the noise is just a spinning sound and not a grinding, than you're starter solinoid is probably bad.
You're best bet is to replace the starter. Hope this helps.

When i take my foot off the gas it makes a horn noise out of the intake area. it will stop when i push on the gas again and it dosn't happen every time. It has 260 000 km on it and it is a 4.6 99 ford f150

there is a sound resonator built into the air intake ducting. Check for leaks or worn out ducting.

1999 Saab 9-5 SE

I own a 99' 9-5 V6 turbo SE. Had the same thing. Started smelling gas in the car, sometimes. Instead of not starting it died (as in the engine stopped) on a barren stretch of road at night. Towed to the Saab dealer: Conclusion? Replaced the fuel pump and sending unit. Don't ask how much.
