Here are some possibilities: 1. Mass AirFlow Sensor is bad. Start the truck, (hood up) and tap on Mass Airflow Sensor (located on airflow intake hose; runs from airfilter casing; small black box): if truck stalls, hesitates, misses, or dies, or sounds like it is going to die, first, purchase a can of Mass Airlflow Sensor Cleaner (it may just need cleaned, and still be good) this is one of those quirky parts - if it does not do any of the above (or cleaning makes no diffence); (be sure to reset computer by disconnected battery after cleaning, then reconnect. Start truck and test again (drive short distance).
2. You may have a fouled spark plug. Pull each one and inspect it. If any plug is fouled, replace all plugs (best) or if you cannot, replace the one bad (or any that are). White residue is normal wear; any other color, or un-ordinary "damage" means you need to replace them. It may also be the (if equipped) rotor in your distrubutor cap; or (if equipped) a bad coil pack. These can be tested, however the modular (mounted beneath the coil pack(s) ) cannot. Look to see if the top of modular is boiled, white, or has a melted look. If so, it may need replaced. Have all coil packs tested, and replace any that test bad.
3. If you or someone have recently installed a new air or fuel filter, be sure it has been installed correctly. If the air filter has been, then airflow has been slightly restricted. If the fuel filter is backward, the fuel can still be disbursed, however, not enough for the engine to fully operate while driving.
4. You could have a plugged Catalytic Converter. Best way to test this is to have DEQ (or mechanic) test you system. It will determine any blockage (assuming you can drive, or tow it).
5. As a fail safe, replace the cap and rotor (if equipped); if coil packs exists, in place of the cap and rotor, replace (after having tested) any coil packs that are bad; along with spark plugs, and coil wire (if equipped).
