When checking for poor fuel economy don't forget to check for binding brakes, wheel alignment, tyres and pressures and even ensure the (manual) transmission has the right grade of oil, also remove unnecessary weight from the luggage space.
It is useful to have a firm consumption figure before beginning the work for comparison purposes. If recommended consumption is quoted in Imperial gallons don't forget the US gallon is smaller...
Very wise to test the fuel injectors but there are serious safety concerns about testing them on the car and the results of a home test is severely limited. That is why it is usually considered a task for a specialist using specialist gear. Don't forget to check the fuel pressures and delivery volume. A lazy or faulty pressure regulator is something else that affects consumption + check the vacuum line to it.
Over time the sensors can become tired and affect fuel consumption without actually triggering any faults - the oxygen sensor, the air metering unit/MAP sensor and coolant temperature sensor are the main ones.
If the CAT is starting to clog it will reduce performance and increase consumption.
Change the air filter? Did you gap the spsrk plugs to proper settings? Check the plug wires to be sure they are in correct fironh order.
SOURCE: will not start every now & then throttle body need desludging?
Not necessarily. Take it into a Hyundai Service Center/Dealership.. pay the diagnostic fee and that way you find out EXACTLY what the problem is and what's required to fix it. Probably just a weak/failing battery.
