Whenever I had this problem with these older cars it was always the pickup coil under the distributor cap. It pretty easy to change. Just remove the two screws that hold down the distributor cap remove the rotor and the pickup coil just sit there and you can pick it up disconnect a wire plug from it and to install it is just the reverse of removal. 4 thumbs up is appreciated if this helps.
Possibly the engine coolant sensor has malfunctioned and that would cause the engine to shut off or not start once it's up to temperature. Check the sensor, and the wire. If you can, plug in the computer to check the engine codes. Hope this helps.
mcdevito75 here, All, very good advice and could be correct each time with your Hot no start problem on your 1984 Chrysler. In my experience the problem is most likely the white 2 plugged resistor on the firewall just about in the middle of the forewall, the firewall, back of the engine seperateing the engine from the passenger compartment. The resistor is white with 2 plugs on it and 1 bolt thru the middle to hold it to the firewall. Replace this resistor and I believe your problem will be fixed.
