2001 chevy venture lost key

I own a 2001 chevy venture that has a key with a transponder chip in it.The key is lost and I can't afford to get it towed to a dealership to have a new key cut and reprogrammed is there any thing else I can do?

You must get a new key from the dealer. Bring in the registration, and photo I.D. Then they will cut you a key. After that, try this procedure....

With a master passkey III key (Black), turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Observe the Security telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn off.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.
With a master passkey III key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.
If it does not work, you will need to get it to the dealer.

My key doesn't have a chip in it for my 2001 Chevy S10. So how is it the the passlock or passcode causes problem? This is trouble some as this

Although some keys do not have an embedded transponder, such keys are designed to give access to the vehicle only and not to allow engine starting.

To allow engine starting there must be an embedded transponder in the key, programmed with the correct code.

In the early days of passive immobiliser systems some manufacturers used a key fob to operate the central locking and to house the rice-grain-like transponder chip. Sometimes the key or the fob would break and the owner would attempt to start the engine fruitlessly as the fob would be in a pocket or handbag (purse). and YOUR ELECTRONIC SKILL peerless...
I don't doubt that t could be done.

However...

back down here in this vale of REALITY...
Your options are call a locksmith to where you are or
have your car towed to a DEALERSHIP and pay twice
as much...

If you get on AMAZON or eBay and check how little it would have cost to AVOID your current situation ... it would be MOST VEXING... my best cut charge = $6

Regardless ... do shop around: you can still save HUNDRES merely by checking & weighing your options.

Replace ignition lock cylinder

I lost my only key to my 2002 Chevy Venture Mini Van. I replaced the ignition switch. I followed the directions on how to program the new keys that came with the new switch and it didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do. Cant afford to take it to a dealership.

So i have a 2001 chevy venture with a pass key three. The key stopped working, and the security light came on. It allowed my wife to start it to go home and then would not start anymore, and the security...

If it will only click it's not a fuel problem . When you turn the key to start , it only clicks ? Is this correct ? If so you have battery , battery cable problems . Do you know what voltage drop testing is ? Plus Chevy does not use a fuel reset switch . I suggest if don't know how to test a automotive electrical circuit you really need to have it towed to a qualified repair shop .

Lost keys for 1999 chevy venture, I believe it has a chip in it, how do i get a new one?

I'm not sure about the chip,but if you bought the vehicle new from the dealer or have all the original paperwork there should be a key code in it.If not(you'll want to call a locksmith and verify this)most manufacturers put the code on the passenger door lock cylinder,once you have the code its just a matter of calling a Chevy dealer or locksmith.

Chip key

You can go to ebay and get a transporter key for about $10 shipped to your door. Take it to a hardware store to have it keyed or a locksmith if you know a good one. Next follow the instructions that come with the key. I just bought a Venture cheap and it had only one key. The dealers and everyone else want $60 or more.
