sounds like the battery in the remote is old and dead and needs to be replaced. ( could also be the electric door lock fuse ).
if you are also experiencing trouble with your door locks themselves turning - then try and spray some teflon or silicone base lubrication in all the locks to wash out any dirt or debris.
All keyless-entry keys have small batteries which runout in long term, some has small screws which you can open and change the battery and some needs to be replaced with new keys, have a look at your car's key and see if you can open the plastic cover and change the battery.

Sound like flat battery, if so key won,t turn untill you charge it
