I have forgotten the name of the bar that goes to the top of the engine, (1996 Olda cutless cierra with a 3.1 V-6) to the top of the radiator core support. It has rubber bushings at each end. Can someone help?

I believe you are refering to whats called a Torque Strut Mount or some people call it a Dog bone strut because it looks like a dog bone, it's cheap,i looked it up on rockauto.com there its under $5.00,you can go to any auto parts store and pick on up, you'll pay alittle more for it,if this helps please leave me a rating on here.

These are engine mounts. Some people call them dog bones.

Need to find a ignition coil comperable to a 1989 oldsmobile cutless cierra 6 cyl

Not sure I understand the question.
You can look the part up on the auto parts websites and get a list of what models the part fits. Just about any GM product with the same engine and year will work.

Heat gauge goes up to red, water, anitfreeze and poil all right. only goes up to top when heater is not running

When the heater is running you increase the flow of hot water providing more opportunity for it to cool down. You may have a blockage in one of the hoses or in the radiator core. A radiator flush may take care of the problem. Try the flush before proceeding with anything more costly.

Trying to find the lock up converter on my 1991 oldsmobile cutless cierra

It is the torque converter. It is located between the engine flexplate and the transmission front seal in the bell housing. I believe what you are looking for is the torque converter lockup solenoid. it is behind the side transmission cover on the left.

Is it difficult to remove a radiator from a 1996 cherokee

Radiator removal is not difficult if you pay attention to what you are doing. Difficulty depends on your skill level. (I've seen people who cant change a license plate, and some that can rebuild an engine. If you are one of the first, don't try it)You need to remove the bar that goes across the top, all hoses and lines, the plastic shroud, then without damaging it, lift it out.
Both chiltons and haynes have decent instructions.

Radiator has busted twice in one month

ccarver96: 1st the radiator, unless it has been replaced with an aftermarket "all metal" radiator, is going to be aluminum with plastic tanks.
Your radiator should have large round pins about 2-3 inches long manufactured on the bottom plastic tank. You should have something similar on the top tank. These are out near the ends facing downward. for the bottom tank and straight up for the top tank. coming off the lower core support, there should be places with holes and there should be large rubber grommets which fit into the holes and then the pins for the radiator, fit inside the center of the grommets. This way you have rubber isolating the plastic from touching metal.
At the top, there will be brackets which will have rubber rings which fit inside the brackets and the rings fit over each pin on the top radiator tank. The brackets then are bolted to the upper tie bar of the core support. You now have a radiator which is secured within the body of the car but has rubber mounts which keep it from touching metal. That is what keeps the radiator from getting damaged.
If your radiator is getting damaged other than that, if it is touching the body at any other point, the body has been damaged and needs to be repaired.
If the radiator is being blown apart from running hot, you need to have the cooling system checked or give me more input as to where the radiator is splitting. Is it splitting at the seems from heat?
