Ok, so my Buick had a fuel pump problem- I replaced it. However, about a month later, the car started dying at stops or when I took a corner. Then about 2 days after, it stopped completely. I cannot start it back up. There is no noise whatsoever when I attempt to start the car, just dead silence when I turn the key. I know it's not the battery- the battery is brand new. I checked the fuel line on top of the engine and I have fuel pressure. I'm thinking it's the starter- maybe because I had to start it back up when it died so many times on the road, maybe I fried the starter, but I don't know for sure. If anyone could give me some advice on what the hell to do, I would greatly appreciate it!!
My car is a 95 buick century. frequently when i stop and shut the car off , the next few minutes when i try to start it it won't start. i have battery power as far as the whir of the fuel pump, and lights, gauges come on but when i turn the switch it won't start. Is this the starter or ignition switch? After about 30 minutes or so, it will start again.
94 buiock, has new starter, new battery, switch just goes katink whren i turn key
Hi estark
im dave
when you attempt to start you get nothing or do the lights on the dash light up?ie do you have power
second when you turn the key to the run position(not start) do you hear the whir of the fuel pump behind you? You probably do if you have fuel pressure. This is another indicator that you have enough power to power the starter.
when you turn the key to start do you hear a click at the front or no?post me back
hi estark
dave again
next thing i would do then is to apply a jumper cable from a running cars battery directly to the starter. put the positive cable on the large screw at the rear of the starter that the battery cable goes to and touch the negative jumper to a good ground. You will have sparking that is normal but if the starter engages it is not the starter. if the starter whirrs but doesnt engage remove it and you'll likely find some mechanical damage to it like a broken nose cone or the rubber seal out of place. If the starter does nothing replace it. If it whirrs but doesnt start when you remove it look at the flywheel that the starter teeth engage to see if there are any broken or missing teeth

yes, i have power- its a new battery. and yes, i can hear the whir of the fuel pump when i put the key on the run position- i also pressed in that fuel valve and fuel sprayed out a little so i know theres pressure. but no, there is no click, i turn the key to start it and there is nothing.
