The alarm system on 96 camry has car shut down after changing altanator

sounds like a bad or dead battery..

hi there. that's because the alarm thinks that someone is interfering
or stealing it. because on the jump leads. there is a voltage change.
and the alarm is sensitive to any change to it electrical system.voltage
increase / decrease.

check your cars alarm car should have a over ride switch hidden in car check owners manual or ask maker of alarm how to over ride system.if alarm does not properly disarm . car will start for a few seconds then shut off. check battery on alarm remote first . then find over ride and reset. hope this will help i had same problem with a car .

I need to know what the problem is exactly at this time, does the engine turn over but not fire up or does it do nothing at all when trying to start it? Do the dash lights turn on when the key is on? Is there an alarm sound from the horn when trying to start it?

Try using your door key to lock and unlock the drivers side door. That should shut down the factory security system.

Find the alarm box (module) under the driver's side dashboard;right around feet area. You may need to remove a few panels. Find the box and disconnect the connector, then try to start it. I believe it's not cranking? Let me know anything else.

actually your car has to have keyless entry, it's part of the alarm system that is given you problems. I had a similar issue with my 87 camery, sounds like they still haven't fixed it in 96.. anyway the fix was for me to take the VIN number over to my local dealer dish out about 35 bucks and get the remote control unit for the alarm system. That also gives you keyless entry :).. So for 35 bucks it was well worth the investment.

In order to disable the alarm there should be a red or black button under the streering colum to left side. You must put the ignition in the run position, and then hold this button for thirty seconds it should disable the alrm until you repeat that procedure.
