The check engine light comes ON. This light comes because there is any error code saved in cars computer. In this case the car needs to be scanned. You can get your car scanned at car diagnostic center like www.autozone.com or at your local car garage. Once the car is scanned the error code will be detected so as per that you can get the part replaced. At autozone service center it's absolutely free to get car scanned. Because the engine light is on, it's advisable to get car scanned.

That is an indication that your ecu is reporting a fault code in the vehicle. Have the trouble codes read to find out what exactly is wrong.

I had the same problem and went to the dealer who wanted over $500 to replace the two sensors. the original ones are encased in plastic and send the wrong signal, the new ones that you can get at the parts department are all metal and I paid about $90 for both of them and I removed the old ones and replaced them with the new ones in about 40 mins and had no trouble since. one of the sensors in on the right hand top side of the engine and can be replaced in a few minutes, they just screw out and in. the other sensor is way down in back of the engine on the right hand side and is harder to replace only because there is not much room to move around so someone with skinny arms is required. Good luck

2004 Altima check engine light cant pick up speed.

Sounds like your car is in fail safe mode. You should get it scanned asap, to find out what's at fault. I suggest your local Nissan dealer for proper repair procedures.
