Check the fuse for the directional signals and replace if blown Also try replacing the directional signal flasher. This is different from the one that controls the emergency flashers. Consult your owners manual for the location. U

My 2004 alero starts with starter fluid then dies. do i need to replace the fuel pump? and where is the fuel pump located?

If you have no fuel pressure and the fuses are good chances are the fuel pump has failed. It is located in the fuel tank. You have to remove the fuel tank to replace it. Replace the fuel filter to.

I went out to start my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero and it wouldn't start heard a gurgling noise then saw a little smoke coming from under the hood. I opened the hood to check my oil thinking maybe it was low...

usally smoke indicates a burned wire form too much resistance. you may need to replace both the positive and negitive battery cables with a new starter.
replace those and go from there try to turn the engine by hand. hopefully it is not locked up .if it would not turn the stater may have drawn too many amps and burned your wires.

I just replaced the starter in my 2000 olds alero and now it wont start it keep flashing securty....it thinks it is benig stolen....how can I fix this

Most likely you replaced the starter because it wouldn't crank over. If this is correct and the security light was flashing before replacing the starter, then most likely you have a problem with the pass-lock system. If your ignition cylinder is located in the dashboard, you will need to remove it and replace the passlock housing.

2002 Alero shifting hard

I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero and my car was running rough and stalling. Also when the car was shifting, it was making a "thud" sound. My service engine light was on, so I took it to Autozone to run their diagnostic tool. It came back with code P0108 and they advised me to check my vacuum hoses as a possible solution. I looked and found that my air hose running from my throttle body to my map sensor was disconnected. I reconnected the hose and the engine ran normally and didn't make any "thud" sound when shifting. My car is back to normal. So check your hoses. If its still running rough, you may need to replace your map sensor.
