My doors do not lock when I put the truck in gear. I also cannot use the lock button on either of the front doors to lock the doors, nor does my remote keyless entry lock or unlock the doors. Also my electric window on the drivers side window does not work but I can put the windows down using the buttons for the other 3 windows ( its a crew cab) My battery died on my truck and I had not had any problems prior to the dead battery. Not sure if it was just a coincoidence?

When you're your battery died it deprogrammed the central locking. Need to have that program again. Should be in the owner manual if not get a Chilton repair manual about $20 dollars.
Check for voltage at the driver door window harness. Also check for continuity when you try the switch using a multimeter

Hello BHRaymond,

I avoid dealers WHENEVER possible... (opinion)
Generally THEIR mechanics seem new/novice...
(not a bad thing.. everybody has to START somewhere
(just not on my cars))...

VERY HIGH prices & LOW ethics = BAD News...

Use clown guided computer-based information systems
(comic book approaches) and cut corners at every
opportunity and...

It was my personal EXPERIENCE they generally break
two things for any ONE they go after... (if you
catch them on a LUCKY DAY (more opinions)).

Your OWNERS manual HAD details (not today)
to "RESET" your windows (after power issues)

412/416 pages...
Chevrolet 2005 Colorado Owner Manual Automatic Door Locks

And

restore your locking preferences... Page 3-36
( which SHOULD have survived... a minor power incident
(more IMPORTANTLY... who-ever changed your battery
could have avoided all these issues if they had properly
maintained BATTERY ON THE VEHICLE...
(My point about unskilled & novice "mechanics"))).

SUPRISINGLY GM does not show them...
(Fords... you can add fob+keys easily)
It appears not so... use a locksmith (avoid dealers)

Procedures ... Off of the internet:

Program (re-introduce keyless FOB)
Go to Bing homepage

Passlock key re-learn video
Go to Bing homepage

Uncut key & fob
Amazon com Discount Keyless Replacement Key Fob Car Remote and Uncut...

Hope this helps stay away from DEALERS.

Battery Disconnect or Replacement Problems

Your going to have to take it to the dealer an have thing's reprogrmmed !
Important: Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle. The order in which the transmitters are programmed is important. The first transmitter programmed will be transmitter #1, and the second transmitter programmed will be transmitter #2. Use care to program the transmitters correctly.
Important: All key fobs must be programmed each time any one fob is programmed. The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are programmed.
Install a scan tool and navigate to the BCM Module Setup menu.
Select Program Key Fobs.
Follow the scan tool on-screen directions.
When the programming operations have completed, operate the transmitter functions to verify correct system operation

SOURCE: power door locks and drivers window have failed on 2004 colorado

I had the same problem to the T. I look online for all the same solutions and I can only tell you what worked for me. Actually what I think worked, HAHA! I went out to my truck and unplugged both battery terminals from battery and placed them together to supposedly reset the electrical system, "so I was told." After this for about 20 min or so, I went back out and in this order; re-installed positive terminal followed by negative terminal to battery. After this I checked locks and windows and surprise they worked. I've seen a lot of people say that all they did was wait and they worked later, so maybe it was that and not what I did, but who cares, they work now. Give it a shot and if it works for you, GREAT let me know, I HATE CHEVY CAUSE OF THIS......they wanted me to pay for a stupid diagnostic before they would help me........well screw you I fixed myself. The only way to program them is with a scan tool so you'll need to visit your local dealer to have it done. Here is how it is done.

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Use the scan tool in order to access programming: Vehicle Control System/Computer Integrating System/Module Setup/BCM/Program Key Fobs.
  3. Press the START soft key on the scan tool. Important: The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are programmed.
  4. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of 5-10 seconds, the scan tool will indicate that the transmitter is programmed.
  5. Repeat the previous step in order to program up to 4 transmitters.
  6. Remove the scan tool.
  7. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

My back passenger door lock will not lock or unlock when all the others work fine...from what i can tell i think it might be a "frozen lock mechanism" because when i push the unlock/lock button it tries to...

It sounds like your lock actuator is dying, or something is jamming up.
If your car is a 2008, then this should be covered under warranty to fix.

If you do want to fix it yourself, you can. On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Pull back the weather seal and you can access the inside of the door

might be a loose connection, also, have the actuators checked. sometimes with a bad gear an actuator will have those problems

Power locks not working right

Hey, this might work.....get in truck, close doors, put key in ignition in lock position.....hold down the door lock button on driver side door control and wait for the lock control to be displayed on the information screen(odometer read-out).....it should say like lock 1, lock 2, lock 3, lock 4.....or something, I always reset mine to LOCK 1, to do this hold the odometer reset button on dash for a sec or two til it changes settings, then release, repeat till you get to LOCK 1, then quickly press and release odometer reset button to exit program, this is the function to lock doors over 15 mph and when out of park and to unlock doors when returned to park......yours' might be set to another function number....try it out, let me know if this helps.........good luck!
