read the instructions. Plug in to the under dash socket and note the fault code. Look up the code and then see if you can fix the problem. If you can't, clear the engine management light [the next time you start it the light will come on again] and take it to a garage Don't tell them what you know, see if they feed you with a lot of rubbish and try to rip ou off.

When you say "won't start", I'm guessing that it won't turn over either. Do you have lights, horn, radio, etc.? If so, try turning the ignition key to the "ON" (not "Start") position. Then step on the brake pedal, and hopefully ou will be able to shift it out of "Park". This is a safety feature that will not allow the vehicle to be shifted out of Park with the engine running (or the key in the On position). Say you have a child in the car, and you stop briefly at a convenience store to quickly pick up something, and ou leave the vehicle running. The shifter interlock would prevent the child from pulling on the shifter, taking it out of Park and going either forward or backward causing an accident. Anway, try the solution and see if it works.

Under what condition(s) does the engine shut down? Idling? Driving (at what speed(s) and/or RPM level? Did the Check Engine or Service Engine Soon light come on? If, so, there is a code stored in the truck's onboard computer that can be read and interpreted by going to any larger auto parts store and asking to borrow (for use at that store) their code scanner. Most good counterpeople will offer to connect the scanner and read/interpret the code (they want to sell parts, right). With that information you can ask what is involved in resolving the malfunction, and decide is ou want to attempt it yourself or take the truck to a professional. That being said, if no light came on (which usually means no code being set), there are other possible causes, but we need more details in order to diagnose the problem.

fuel pump is bad..put fuel pressure gauage on it and test our fuel pressure...o yuou hear the uel pump running when ou urn on the key....this will not show a code

Have the computer scanned for codes. Once you know the codes ou will have a much better idea of what the problem is. Three option for this 1 buy a code reader for about $50 and pull cos yourself 2 call you local parts store to see if the can pull codes for you. 3. Bring the vehicle to your local garage or dealer and have them do a diag. There is usua Ly a set fee for this. Once you have the code or codes post them and I'll see what I can do to help. The check engine light is the light and it sounds like that the coolant temperture senser has come unplugged or is bad. You can get the check engine light ( read) at an auto parts store as it'll tell ou the codes the indicated the problem area that the light is conplaining about a carefull inspection for wires disconnected may find the problem to as the airflow senser can failin wet weather and any connector can get wet or dirty and work poorly.

On the side of caution, it's not good to drive around with the light on. ou could be doing some damage.

Take your car to your local auto parts superstore, and have them scan for the fault code that is making the light come on. And take it from there. ANother thing you can try, is disconnect the neg. battery terminal for a couple of minutes. Then reconnect. Start the car, and the light might not come on, until the fault code recycles. Car might drive a little odd next time to go out driving. The computer has to recycle, so to speak. Hope this helps.

The fact that it popped up again indicates a problem. Have a mechanic or local auto parts store use their OBD-2 scanner to read the code(s). From there, they will be able to tell ou what the code(s) mean and you can choose the course of action you want to take.
