I suggest testing the IAC (idle air control) valve using the following procedure. If the IAC is stuck fully opened it will cause a high idle. Excluding 1FZ-FE Engine

  1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminal +B and other terminals (RSC and RSO). It should read between 17.0-24.5 ohms.
  2. Connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal +B and negative lead to RSC, then check that the valve is closed. Fig. 1: With battery voltage applied as shown, the valve should be closed my 93 model landcruiser 80 - 86824p81.gif Fig. 2: The valve should open when connected as shown 86824p82.gif
  3. Connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal +B and negative lead to RSO, then check that the valve is open.
  4. If the valve did not perform as indicated, replace the IAC valve.
1FZ-FE Engine
  1. Remove the IAC valve.
  2. Apply battery voltage to terminals B1 and B2. Then, apply ground to terminals S1, S2, S3, S4 and S1 in sequence. Check that the valve moves towards the closed position. Fig. 3: The valve should close during the first sequmy 93 model landcruiser 80 - 86824p83.gif 86824p83.gif

It can be the sensor problem. Clean out the idle air control valve and test the following throttle position sensor, coolant temperature sensor and mass airflow sensor. --------------- The IAC valve is located on the throttle body on the underside, the throttle body is attached to the air intake chamber and has the large black rubber hose coming from the air filter, the throttle body has to be removed, it has four 12mm size bolts and two coolant hoses and one vacuum hose attached to the IAC valve, there is also a bracket directly behind the throttle body that is attached with another 12mm bolt. After the throttle body is removed the IAC valve can then be removed by taking off the 4 Phillips screws, the valve can be cleaned with some spray intake cleaner available at the auto parts store and a soft brush to remove the carbon deposits, the inside of the throttle body should be cleaned at the same time.
----------
This will help. But if this all sensors and valve checked out ok then yes its ECU fault and it has to be replaced. But most probably its dirty IAC valve or faulty sensors any out of this the TPs,the CTS or the MAF.-------------Thanks.Helpmech.

Is the weather colder now ? your automatic choke controls that, it's controlled by the computer. let it run like that for 2 minutes and press on the gas and release it quit to see if the choke disengages, if it's colder, it will take more time to disengage, normal. if it doesn't disengage when the temperature is hot, some testing will be required to determine exactly what is at fault

92 chevy idles real fast on cold start up, then after run warming up runs fine

Not an uncommon issue for one to idle fast while cold but , 2000 rpms is a little higher than normal. May want to check the engine coolant temperature sensor for proper voltage and the coolant level. Also, check for small vacuum leaks around the throttle body gasket.

1988 5 speed Honda Accord

Ensure your spark plugs, wires (ignition coil and spark) and your filters (air and fuel) are within 2 years of installation It's erratic at 800 rpm as the engine is cold and they like the 2200 range for 3 minutes before they kick down on their own. Press the pedal twice before inserting your key. The owners manual states depending on the outside temperature, the engine will require more priming. Update if possible.

Won't idle when cold

Test both the manifold air temp sensor and the coolant sensor. If either are out of range it can alter the cold start idle.
