I bought a 2005 Equinox in April 2006 with only 23100 kms (14438 miles). In May 2008 at 43270 km, I had to replace the left front wheel bearing (BR930326) and associated link-kit; I paid $394.22. In April 2009, at 51172 km, I changed the same bearing of same wheel again as well as the link kit; the kit was replaced for free because of its warranty, but I had to pay the bearing $310.30. In September 2009 (only 5 months later), at 56000 km, the problem appeared again. The exact same bearing had to be replaced; this time however the warranty covered the costs; I only paid one hour work. Just recently in January 26, 2011, the same problem appeared once more. It had to be preplaced and the warranty was not acknowledged; so I had to pay $396.05. What is wrong with this e bearing. Is this a common problem for the Equinox 2005. What can I do, given this sequence, I d expect to replace the bearing once a year.

No, this is not normal. I would suspect the bearing is not being installed correctly. Is the same mechanic installing the bearing each time? Check the manufacturers installation specifications and torque requirements.
If the installation is being done correctly, you will have to start checking suspension components, in particular the steering knuckle the bearing is attached to. The bearing assembly must be installed and seated flat and flush in the knuckle assembly. The axle nut must be torqued to specification with no weight on the bearing.
Good luck.

My 2 have always made that noise, I'm guessing it has something to do with the ABS charging in preparation for potential use. after a combined total of 240k miles, there has been no noted detrimental effect to this "charging" sound.
Great car.

My 2006 ford 150 super crew front brakes seem to be flaking off? When I look at my front tire wheel covers I find residue on the wheel covers, I do not ride my brakes in traffic, what is the problem, just...

It's not uncommon to find brake dust on the wheel covers. If it is excessive, one possibility is that the pistons are sticking in the caliper bores. Jack up a wheel and give it a spin with your hand. If it spins easily, then all is well. Check your wheel bearing play while you have it jacked up. There shouldn't be any significant looseness. 70,000 km and only halfway through the pads sounds good. Cheers!

2005 Equinox has vibration through the steering wheel at 65 miles per hour.

check condition of front tire, also the balance of the fronts 65 is a common speed for tire vibration. do not overlook steering play(tie rods, ball joints) also bent wheel. any noise? could have wheel bearing issue. lots of places, like vip, pepboys, etc. will check front end for free hopeing to sell you a part. not bad deal because you do need "something" even if it is tires balanced.

Vibration and noise from front end while driving

Jack up the front end and put stands under it and block rear wheels. Look at axle boots and see if they are cracked. Try turning wheel back and forth sharply and see if you can hear any clicking. Problem could be outer axle joints. If the boots are cracked or you hear a clicking noise you will have to replace the axle. The axle and boot come as a complete unit. Please let me know what you find out.

EXCELERATION NOISE

Hi there the only hing i can suggest is that you have your wheel bearings checked this can be done by jacking up one front wheel at a time and with onehand under the wheel the other on top see if you detec any play in the up and down motion also spin the wheel to see if it makes any humming noise if so it definitly a bearing problem.i hope this has been helpful
