This is the feeling you get when ABS (anti lock brakes) sense a loss of traction. You'll feel almost like the pedal is pushing back against your foot. You may also notice a "humming" sound associated with this action.

When the system sense a slide it will alternately (very rapidly) apply then release pressure to the brakes, in an effort to slow the vehicle without sliding the tires.

I imagine you only notice this on very slippery surfaces, right?

From what I see in your description, there is nothing to worry about. If you continue to feel unsure about it, have a reputable local mechanic have a look at it.

Good luck!

My susuki grand vataris traction control does not work

double posted, and again no facts:
answer:
what country; better say what city, or state road conditions.?
pavement? ice, snow, ? or only wet pavement.?
In 4wd ? 4H or 4L mode. (never do this on only wet pavement) RTM
is the ESP switch on , or off.?
do tell at watch speed this slides happen 5mph or 100mph on ice.
road conditions, and exactly how it slides.?
eg: im on ice, im in a turn at 45mph in 4H , ESP switch on,
and car slides and the ESP light did not flash. (warning me.)

The ESP is not magic, it cant save , extreme drivers.
say going 100mph in to an iced turn
sure it will try but will fail.
it can brake you
it can shift gears, and cut the throttle (TBW)
it can do lots, but is not magic, it has limits,

what makes you think it does not work.// elaborate fully.?????

2002 chrysler town and country shudders when braking and also when driving at certain speeds

Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak, Or if it shudders on breaking it could be the disks or rotors are warped. The part where you say it feels like it's not getting enough air is an indication that the engine has a vacuum problem. How does it feel at idle? Trouble shooting is like going to the doctor, the more information the better. If the symptoms happen on cold starts, or is it random. Does it only happen when you break? If you put the gear in neutral and coast and you hit the breaks does it do the same thing? let's try and narrow it down, let me know? GE

Trac on does not help traction whatsoever totally helpless when snow or ice---not sure it has worked since new when press steering column button to turn trac off---will show trac off on dash----and when...

The traction light only shows when it is turned off. If the traction control wasn't work, the van would show a code aka engine light would come on. Tracation Control only works at speeds below 35 mph.

1996 Lincoln Town Car traction control braking front wheels?

Your traction control comes on when it notices either your rear tires slipping or front tires slipping and it counteracts the slip to control the slide. It should be working all 4 brakes though not just the front. There is a traction control sending unit under the dash that should be looked at to make sure that it is sending the Trac Control the right message. If it is reading the slide wrong then it should be replaced. Sometimes then can just reset the computer and all works well other times you need to replace the sensor. I would see if they can reset the computer first then go from there. Pleae rate if satisfied. Thank you
