my problem related to ASD (automatic shutdown relay) wiring not tight on terminals (fuse box under hood). I traced this to a mechanic (national chain) repeatedly kept dislodging the ASD wiring (while supposedly tracking down fuel pump problem). This act eventually caused the computer to fry.
straight six engine ,153624 firing order i know no2 and no4 leads have a sort of loop on the jeep engine and i should imagine this is the same on this model ,if you dont know where no one is then remove the rocker cover and turn engine over till the valves on no1 are closed and remove the plug to make sure piston is at top ,then you have the position on the distributor cap where no1 is ,lift cap and see where the rotor arm points too ,then this is no1 .then clockwise rotation the next hole is no5 and so on
Replace each wire individually from plug to distributor one at a time and they will be in the right order. Or make yourself a diagram before you start, very carefully marking the first one you take off the distributor and where it came from and where it goes. Hope this helps..
