Battery died and anti theft code went into effect

fully charge battery and figure out why went dead -have code read ---check brake fluid level ,abs fuses and sensors- wires /connections

with the battery dying the radio and equipment that has anti theft circuits have had the anti theft codes activated . You will need a code for the radio before it will work again and for anything else may be a reset of the CPU using a scanner will be the answer.

Sometimes if it set too long the gas went bad. You may have to drain the gas and the put fresh gas in.

When my anti theft went off because I changed a battery, mind you it was an oldsmobile I had to take it to a dealership so that they could reprogram the theft system

pull the fuse, and reinsert, if that doesn't work, take the neg. battery cable off to reset com. but that will also erase any codes you may need for a machanic in the future. good luck

If your radio has anti-theft system you will have to go to the dealer and get the accss code to reactivate the radio if you dont have the code already. GM vehicles with anti-theft radios will lock when power is lost to the system if the radio is not turned off prior to battery disconnect or dying.

This is the anti-theft device on your factory radio. When the battery died, the radio thought it had been removed from your car and went into anti-theft mode. When you turned the car back on, the radio should have read "CODE" on the display, at which point you need to enter the factory anti-theft code. After 3 failed attempts at entering the code, it will simply read "OFF" and the radio is locked.

At this point:
- find your factory anti-theft code - it should be in your owner's manual, or you can contact a dealer to retrieve it
- turn the key to the ACC position (radio and accessories on, but engine is off)
- turn on the radio so the display reads "OFF"
- let the car sit for 1 hour
- radio will turn off automatically and reset
- turn the radio on again, and it should read "CODE"
- enter the factory anti-theft code

Make sure you have the code before starting the procedure. To enter the code, use the radio preset buttons. For example, if your code is "4321", hit Preset #1 button four times, Preset #2 three times, Preset #3 two times, and Preset #4 one time. Then hit the "Tape" or "CD" button. Radio should now be unlocked.

Usually if it is the anti theft system it should not start with a boost, I would suggest first check the basics have the altenator tested with a voltmeter the volts should read 13.5 to 14.5 if not you probbably have a bad altenator, loose belt, or bad or loose battery connections. Since the battery went completly dead I would suggest having it recharged and tested.

no power usually suggest battery fuse or wiring. anti theft keeps the car from starting but may have also killed the battery. check the battery
