Ordered new part today with bearing and new seal , should cost about 150.00 for all parts not including oil for axle. I am in the overhead door business and do all the work for this dealer so I get really fair prices on parts.

To be more specific...If it is the part I am thinking of yes, it is replaceable in the truck.

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2011

Labor time according to the manual is 2.5 hours.
...The part will likely be expensive at the dealer.... You may opt to find one at an auto recycler.

Hmmm, without seeing it it is virtually impossible for me to tell you.
Possible impact, overloading or defective part are on the list.
I service more pickups than cars in my area of the world and have never had to replace one of these yet.
Is yours a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2011

Also, has there ever been a snowplow on this?

Inspect all associated parts carefully for cracks, bends or signs of impact. If all appears OK it should be alright.
I would suggest a front end alignment afterward to prevent tire wear.

The part numbers I listed were from a service manual.
The numbers were from when the vehicle was made and the original part number.
Prices listed were also from the year the truck was made.
I listed it for you for the part numbers.
If the wreckers want to sell you the complete assembly you may need to get it from the dealer.

How do I replace my inner axle on the passenger side of my 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4 4.7L. I lent my truck out and the C clip let go of the CV axle. The intermediate axle spline is stripped and I need to change...

Lift and support front end on suitable jack stands preferably on frame. Remove right front cv axle, stub shaft, and seal. You will need to pull the right front brake caliper assembly loose and place to the side. Then remove bolts from shock and upper control arm and hub nut to do this. Next, remove axle lock actuator on passenger side of front axle. Place a drain pan underneath front diff cover and remove cover and drain axle. In the center of differential there will be an 8 mm head bolt holding spider gear cross-shaft. Remove bolt and cross-shaft only! Push inner axle in until clip clears inside of passenger spider gear. Set clip aside and push/pull axle shaft straight out to passenger side.

How to remove oil pan gasket from 2002 GMC Yukon Denali?

I just changed my oil pan gasket on my 2001 GMC Yukon Denali. Once all bolts are off the oil pan, the pan and off the block it has no clearance because the differential is in the way. I removed half the diffential since the housing is split in the center. You will see bolts on the differential housing, remove those. But before the diff can come out to make room for the pan to drop you have to remove the axel attached to the diff on the passenger side. Once the axel is off the diff you have room to remove half the diff. Make sure to drain the gear oil first. It take a bit off pulling and wiggling but it will come off. Once that's clear the oil pan is completely free to come out. Hope this helps.

CV axle shaft replacement

Instructions
1.Set the vehicle transmission in "Park" and engage the emergency brake before attempting to remove the front right axle. Place wood blocks behind the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling and loosen the lug nuts one complete turn on the right front wheel with a tire tool.

2. .Lift the front passenger side of the vehicle with a floor jack and slide a jack stand under the vehicle frame near the wheel. Lower the floor jack so the vehicle is sitting on the jack stand and move the floor jack out of the way.

3. Remove the lug nuts with the tire tool and set the front passenger wheel out of the way. Take the cap off the end of the axle with a standard screwdriver and remove the cotter pin from the axle with a pair of pliers.

  • 4. Slide the crown washer off the axle and loosen the axle nut with a crescent wrench. Unfasten the top and bottom bolts that secure the brake caliper to the rotor with a socket wrench and slide the bolts out of the caliper.
  • 5. Lift the brake caliper off the rotor and remove the brake pads from the caliper. Suspend the brake caliper from the vehicle frame with a wire hanger and take the rotor off the axle.
  • 6. Unfasten the thru-bolt on the vertical sway bar with a socket wrench and remove the bolt from the sway bar. Take the channel bolt out from between the sway bar and lower A-arm that the thru-bolt ran through, and loosen the bolts that secure the front right axle to the center flange with a socket wrench and breaker bar. You may need to loosen the bolts with the breaker bar before removing them with the socket wrench.
  • 7. Slide the front right axle off the center flange and let it rest on the A-arm. Lift the front passenger side up with the floor jack to get enough room between the steering knuckle and A-arm and slide the axle out of the vehicle.
    Install in reverse order.

My 2004 yukon denali only heats up once i start driving, and starts to blow cold air when i stop or it idles. thinking it may need a new thermostat

Yes, it sounds like your thermostat is stuck in the open position.

Your thermostat is located under a metal housing on the top of the engine. The upper radiator hose connects to this housing. To change the thermostat you basically need to drain the radiator after your engine is cold, disconnect the upper radiator hose from the engine, and remove the bolts from the small housing. replace the thermostat, and clean the surfaces on both sides and replace the gasket too. reinstall the housing, attach the hose, and refill the radiator. start the engine, warm it up and check for leaks, then re check the coolant level after the engine cools off again

Remove front axle on 2000 ford excursion

    Hi,
Please follow the complete steps as provided bellow.
    1. Before you remove anything off the truck, measure the pinion on the front and rear axle differential. Make sure to record this measurement as we will want to put each axle back to this angle after the suspension lift kit is installed. This is especially important for the front axle. Putting the front axle back to the same measurement will keep the stock camber and caster.
    2. Jack up the truck and place a jack stand under the frame on each side of the truck. Jack the truck up enough so that the front tires are just barely off the ground. Take a motorcycle strap and wrap the strap around the differential and to the frame. This will help keep the axle in the general proximity while the factory suspension is removed and the 4 link is installed.
    3. Remove shock absorbers, coil springs, swing arms, rear swing arm pivot, and sway bar.
    4. Use a ¼”drill and drill out the centre of the rivets that hold the coil brackets to the frame. A couple of the rivets you may not be able to drill. Next, use a cut-off wheel, grinder, or rivet buster to remove the heads of the bolts. You can use a torch, but it will be more difficult to punch out the rivets. Chances are you will have to use a grinder and grind the **** off the rivets flush with the stamped part.
    5. Locate upper bag mount and drill out the four 3/8” rivet holes in side of the frame to ½” Bolt the brackets to the side of frame using the four ½” grade 8 bolts. Make sure to check the back side of the frame for brake lines, fuel lines and on the Excursion, heater lines.
    6. Locate rear trailing arm bracket and fasten to the frame using the ½”bolts provided. You will first have to remove the factory transmission cross member. It will be required to drill the (4) holes in the bottom of the frame. Be careful not to drill into any fuel lines. After you fasten the two brackets to the frame, install the new cross member. Fasten into place using the 5/8” bolts. Fasten the transmission into place using the factory nuts.
    7. Locate the lower air bag mount; position this part on top of the axle. On the passenger side you will need to drill a ½” hole in the flat part of the axle. There is no drilling on the drivers’ side. Fasten into place using the 14mm metric bolt. If you use the factory bolt, it will need to be shortened about ½”. Locate the cross member that connects the two bag mounts in place. Fasten using the ½” x 1 ½” bolts.
Step 8. Locate the upper and lower trailing arms. Install the arms so that the upper arms are the same length and the lower arms are the same length. Try and install so the pinion angle is close to original.
