Get a compression test done, you may have a poorly valve. Have you checked/replaced the leads/plugs and distributor/rotor etc?

Perform a dry and then a wet compression test. if compression is greater on the wet then you have a bad ring in that cylinder. If compression stays the same then possible bad valve stem seal.

I have a 1997 toyota avalon 3.0 v6. The scanner shows I have a cylinder 3 misfire. So We have replaced the coil packs, spark plugs and are currently trying to locate the oil solenoid to try and clean it....

Why are you looking for an oil solenoid. A misfire is only caused by two things

A fuel injection issue
or
An ignition/firing/spark issue

It appears to be a well documented issue on the Avalon. Take a look at the videos.

Also clean the Throttle body and MAF

1997 ford escort lx 1.9L i was driving it and the engine quit, it did this 3 times before it would not start again i have fuel spark and compression, cranks and almost starts but wont.

Check the timing belt, open the oil cap and see if valves move.
Check if there is a misfire.
Open the fuel line and see if got pressure.
Last but no least check the inyectors.

Oil leaking onto my timing belt on a 99 ford escort lx 2.0 sohc small knocking from engine head was replaced and all gaskets misfire happens and then it shutsoff or sputter

if you have oil leaking that severe, chances are that one of your spark plug holes have oil in them causing your misfire..in that case it would sound that you need to replace your valve cover gasket
to check pull one by one you ignition wire up from valve cover and check for oil in hole and on boot

hope this helps

03 SL500 REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, COILS STILL MISFIRES ON 1 WHAT ELSE?

Switch spark plugs, ignition coils and fuel injectors from cyl 1 to 3.
See if misfire goes to cyl. 3. If that happens replace the damaged part.
If is still on cyl. 1 check the compression of the cyl. 1.
If that's ok see if the air mass sensor is working fine.
Also check if there is oil in the plug of the lambda sensor.

Misfiring after replacement of spark plugs and wires

If it wasn't misfiring before. Make sure you have the proper gap on the spark plugs. Make sure you have the wires connected in the correct order. If you have the old wires, you may want to end up trying those one at a time to make sure you don't have a defect wire either.
Thank you,
Lee
