Car won't start, then it will start, then I stop the engine and it will not start. The car had a complete tune-up six months ago. problem is driving me crazy. brought to my mechanic and guess what, it started and would not give him the problem. I bring it home and it won't start the next time. problem is driving me crazy. Mechanic found an old code in the computer. some 16??. He said it relates to som manufacturer security system. Any ideas
Had similar problem Does the 'theft system' light come on or blink? If so, get it checked out by a good electronic troubleshooter. If it doesn't start, try locking and unlocking driver door twice, and it should reset and start.
Had something similar happen--turned out it was the fuel sending unit inside the gas tank.

I just got a 97 skylark. Drove fine. Shut it off, no start. 3 min. later started.
Drove into garage shut off next day no start. The engine cranks over fine butwill not fire. The ck engine light will only flash on for a fraction of a second as you turn on the key and then stay off when the key is on and not come back on when cranking the engine. I pulled the coils off and put plugs in them and had my son crank the engine with the plugs grounded to valve cover and there was no spark. Any help would be appreciated.
I thought it was the fuel but it still kept on turning off all the time. I took it to a mechanic and they said it needed to be flooded
