I think that the fuel sending unit in the tank is broken or the wire from the unit is unhooked.to keep from running out of fuel. fill up the car and use the trip oddometer to calculate how many miles you can travel. that car has 12 to 15 gallon tank and should get 20 to 25 miles per galloni would think that start putting gas in about 250 to 300 miles. then reset trip odometer

2013 Kia Optima. Fuel gauge shows 1/16th of a tank and the low fuel light is not on. Engine shut down. Out of gas. Add gas. Car starts up. What would cause the gauge to misread in this way?

most fuel gauge readings are not that accurate anyway so its out of fuel but not what the is guage reading. but the fuel level sensor in the tank may be at fault sound like its the prob but the instument pack should put the low fuel light on if its fitted on your vehicle spec but not always fitted even though the warning light is present hope this helps

I have Nissan patrol super safari mod.2005, problem with fuel gauge main tank showing maximum spare tank minimum please help

if you have 2 fuel gauges working of a tank switch there may be some resistance in the circuit of the second circuit that increases the reading of the gauge. Personally I have the tanks balanced out with a levelling hose between them the the gauge reads the capacity left in the tanks IE full-- both tanks-- full, 1/2 both tanks 1/2 With the way you have it set up then if one gauge is faulty and shows full when it is empty you can find yourself in a spot of bother when you need the other tank

Why is gas gauge not working correctly since fuelpump was replaced.

Is this a flex fuel vehicle. If so, call the dealership and ask the parts dept. if there is a gauge module (perhaps behind the instrument cluster). This may be the culprit and needs to be replaced.

The fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank with 115 miles left until empty but the car stopped due to no fuel.

Bring it back to dealer and them recalibrate computer and fuel gauge. Someone missed that in new car prep

Hesitation and trouble starting

sir, there are couple of problem that can cause you this
1). the position of fuel tank where it is located
2). see for any damage isn't there in the fuel tank unit
3). see for that the fuel supply pipe line isn't damage any where in between
4). now the thing you mention that you don't wanna change the part's but after thousand's of Km done by any vehicle there is need for change for parts as they worn out & can cause drop in fuel efficiency, performance, & many thing are involve it so do refer to the instruction manual provided by the manufacturer with you vehicle
5). As you mention that when vehicle reaches the quarter tank mark you seem your vehicle show out of fuel but in this case some time the thing is not the same what you see it can happen the fuel gauge may not show proper fuel level so do check for both fuel tank & as well as you meter console unit for problem.
after doing the couple of things if the problem still arises then you can consult me it am there to help you out.. OK until then see you sir...!
