im sorry for the miss undertanding i hope that this new info could help you to fix your problem
The door latch striker plate can be adjusted laterally and vertically as well as fore-and-aft.
The door latch striker plate should be shimmed to get the clearance shown between the door latch striker plate and front door latch (21812). To check this clearance, clean the latch jaws and the door latch striker plate area. Apply a thin layer of dark grease, such as Multi Purpose Grease D0AZ-19584-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M1C93-B to the door latch striker plate. As the front door (20124) is opened and closed, a measurable pattern will result on the door latch striker plate. Use a maximum of two shims under the door latch striker plate.
Move the door latch striker plate side to side to provide a flush fit at the front door and quarter panel. Use correct size bit from Torx® Drive Bit Set D79P-2100-T or equivalent to loosen and tighten the door latch striker plate. Tighten to 35-45 Nm (26-33 lb-ft).
the clearance is 0.05mm(0.02inch) min and 6.3 mm (0.25 max)

I fear I am using incorrect terminology here. I want to replace the actual latching mechanism that mounts on the rear of the door. This is the actual mechanism that engages the striking rod mounted on the door sill of the cat to hold the door securely shut. I do not need to replace the handles or operating section of the latch.
I am sincerely grateful for the advice of GANYAPR I am merely asking a clarify question to help remove the fog or confusion I am struggling with.
Thank you!
