break lights come on while driving and stay on even after the engine is turned off. disconnecting the battery is the only way to turn them off.

Yes. Because the switch use a individual wire to the 3rd light.
To separete from the rear. because the rear lights, use the same bulb to signal and brake light.

My break lights dont work.fuzes and bulbs are ok ?

For starters it is spelled "Brake" light...LOL . Sounbds like you may have a brake light switch that has gone out. In yor owners manual does it show more than one fuse for the brake lights? Most vehicles with a thrid/highmount brake light split the brake light power to either the left and third brake light and the right brake light or vice versa, or posibble 3rd brake light on its own fuse. I would check if all of the brake light including the 3rd brake light dont work. If no lights work at all it leans toward the switch which controls all or them to activate hence the brake light switch. It should be mounted on your brake peal arm or to the main base. The pedal lever activate the switch when you depress the brake pedal.

Tail lights work but break lights do not. fuse is ok.

replace brake light switch, it's mounted just above brake pedal under dash. Small switch w/couple of wires coming from it - easy fix. (common prob)

Brake switch on pedal is working and there's no blown fuses and brake lights don't work bulbs are good cant find a short either

If the 3rd brake light works but not the lower lights then you have a wire depined from the multifunction turn signal switch or the M switch is bad.

The brake lights and 3rd brake stopped working. The tail lights work. Fuses appear to be OK.

Look above your brake pedal and you will see your brake switch up along your brake pedal arm. It will either be between the brake arm and the firewall so when you brake it pushes the switch in. Or it will be between the dash and the brake arm so when you brake it pulls the switch out. Most likely this switch needs to be replaced

Cruise control inop

Could be a bad vacum dump switch on the brake pedal. There is 2 switches on the brake pedal one for brakes lights and one for cruise The cruise switch must be pushed when the pedal is up. Or your servo under the hood is bad To identify the parts go to the parts store and look at them and you will know what to look for

93 lantis brake lights.

It could be the brake light switch that is bad. that is located under the dash behind the pedal, the pedal presses the switch and turns the brake lights on.
