break lights come on while driving and stay on even after the engine is turned off. disconnecting the battery is the only way to turn them off. break lights come on while driving and stay on even after the engine is turned off. disconnecting the battery is the only way to turn them off.
I have the same problem with the same generation of Sentra. The tail light works, but the brake lights didnt, if i can get a wiring scematic that would be a good help.

For starters it is spelled "Brake" light...LOL . Sounbds like you may have a brake light switch that has gone out. In yor owners manual does it show more than one fuse for the brake lights? Most vehicles with a thrid/highmount brake light split the brake light power to either the left and third brake light and the right brake light or vice versa, or posibble 3rd brake light on its own fuse. I would check if all of the brake light including the 3rd brake light dont work. If no lights work at all it leans toward the switch which controls all or them to activate hence the brake light switch. It should be mounted on your brake peal arm or to the main base. The pedal lever activate the switch when you depress the brake pedal.
Look above your brake pedal and you will see your brake switch up along your brake pedal arm. It will either be
between the brake arm and the firewall so when you brake it pushes the
switch in. Or it will be between the dash and the brake arm so when you
brake it pulls the switch out. Most likely this switch needs to be replaced
CK THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL FOR POWER IN & OUT WHEN ON THE BRAKE.IF IT IS OK U MANY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH.POWER GOES THROUGH THE SWITHC TO THE REAR LIGHTS.WIGGLE THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WHILE STEPING ON THE BRAKE IF THEY LIGHT OP THE T/S SWITCH IS BAD.
Could be a bad vacum dump switch on the brake pedal. There is 2 switches on the brake pedal one for brakes lights and one for cruise The cruise switch must be pushed when the pedal is up. Or your servo under the hood is bad To identify the parts go to the parts store and look at them and you will know what to look for
It could be the brake light switch that is bad. that is located under the dash behind the pedal, the pedal presses the switch and turns the brake lights on.
