My overdrive light is flashing on and off - 2002 Ford Explorer

Turns out it was a fuse under the hood. It was causing the light to flash, the vehicle to make a loud clunk noise when stopping, and it made the pressure build up so that it looked like my transmission fluid was too full. Yes it could`ve been the tranny thank goodness it wasn`t. THANKS .

OD and Check Engine lights both are on.

    replaced transmission 4 years ago...

    paid 300 for solenoid sensor

didn't fix it..told it was either cam shaft sensor or a new transmission, but couldn't guarantee which one=

    any ideas?

OD light flashing, service engine light on, car is having trouble shifting. Had fluid in transmission changed a few months ago. Problem just started. Am I about to lose the transmission? My car is a 2003 explorer. Is this common.

The O/D light flashing is an indication of a transmission electrical fault. The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the electronic sensors and actuators on the engine and PCM. If it finds a fault on these circuits, it will alert the driver. Since the O/D light is flashing, the fault is specific to the transmission. You'll will need to have the codes checked in the PCM before any repairs are attempted.

My overdrive light is flashing on and off on my 2000 ford Windstar van could a blown fuse be causing it

First of all have an auto parts store check for trouble codes...The flashing overdrive light is a warning that the overdrive unit is overheating and/or low on fluid...#1 choice is overheating and you will be looking at a costly rebuild if this is not attended too soon...Have your radiator, which also has a transmission cooler flushed, cleaned and refilled immediately...Have someone check if fluid is leaking then cleaned and filled with fresh fluid...saailer

Overdrive light is flashing

The flashing light means the overdrive will not work.
You could scan the computer and see if you have any trouble codes.
The codes will direct you as to what to test for the problem.

My overdrive light is flashing, what does this mean?

In many cars, this light means the car wants to use the overdrive gear but it has been overridden by the driver. If you have an overdrive button, try switching it on and see if the light stops flashing.
Another reason for the light may be that the transmission cannot shift into overdrive due to a fault. To be sure, check your owners manual and let us know if you still have questions.

The "off" light for the overdrive shut off flashes.

the light is flashing to alert you to the fact that a fault has been detected in the transmission, the most common is excessive slippage detected by the torque speed sensor as compared to the outshaft shaft speed sensor, U will need to have the system tested for the stored trouble code that is set when this OD light blinks.
