How do I reset the door lock code on a 93 Mercury Grand Marquis if I don't know the current code. I bought the car from a family and the owner had passed away and they don't know the current code.

There is a master default code that will always work no matter how the personal codes are set. Codes are 5 digits and should be on a card hopefully in the owner's manual packet. If you can't find the card, any Ford dealer can retrieve the master code for you. Even if you knew the previous owner's code, you'll need the master code in order to program a personal code of your own.

How do I change the keyless entry code for 2000 mercury grand marquis
1.locate and enter the factory set code(taped to the computer module also located on trunk lid. 2.press the 1/2button within 5 seconds of step 1. 3. enter your personal 5 digitcode within 5 seconds. Allthedoors will lock and unlock to confirm programming of the new code.

I cant find the factory five digit code to reset my keyless door panel. What do i need to do or how can i reset it. This is a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis.
This number is usually inside the trunk jamb. It's printed on a sticker. If you've the owners manual, there's also usually a card with the number on it. If you know your original code and are trying to reset a newer code back to the original, disconnect the battery for 10min. Loss of power will revert key codes back to original factory setting.

look for the permanent code on the plastic card in the owner manual packet. Or, pay dealer to extract code from computer.

Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming NOTE: The system only allows one code to be programmed.
  1. Enter the permanent factory keyless entry keypad code.
  1. Press the 1/2 button within five seconds to activate the programming mode. Holding the 1/2 button for more than two seconds after activation will erase the stored customer code . The door locks will lock, then unlock, confirming the code is erased. The existing code will not need to be erased to program new a code.
  1. Within five seconds, enter the new five-digit keyless entry keypad code. The door locks will lock and unlock to confirm the new code is programmed.

Factory Keyless Entry Code
had the same problem when i bought a used 2004 grand marquis from the ford dealer.  the code is associated with the vin and had to be looked up by the dealer.  as far as i know the code is not located anywhere on the car.  after getting mine i wrote it inside the door frame on the driver's door.

I have a 93 MGM also and if I remember right,all you have to do is press and hold the hour (H) or minute (M) button to get it to change the time. I hope this helps!
