If shifting malfunctions exist on the transmission, then the solenoid(s) may be bad on it that determines shift points along with the PCM or powertrain control module.

Do you have any codes stored in the obd-II computer associated with this problem? Sometimes there will be on obd-II cars. Sometimes, though, no code will be stored, but the car will malfunction.

What should I do to my 1994 Lincoln Town Car Cartier to tow a 2500 lb travel trailer?

A shift kit is always a good idea when hauling a trailer. It is a kit that is installed in the transmission made up of gaskets seals and other small parts. Fairly easy to install. This makes the car shift faster, without lag in between gears. Normally if you had a tachometer your car may drop 1200 RPM'S while shifting, but with a shift kit, it would only drop 600 or so RPM"S Easier on fuel, and easier on transmission. Good investment in my opinion. Happy travels and cheers from Nova Scotia

I have a 1994 Lincoln Mark Vlll.when it shifts into 4th gear,it starts to **** when I press on the gas lightly

Replace transmission filter and fluid. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE FILTER. 11 IN LBS MAX. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING IN THE VALUE BODY.

It takes high rpm to shift my 91 chevy c1500 4x4 out of first to second, it sounds like truck is going to blow. Whats wrong?

there is usually 2 component to this, all related to the transmission. First , loosen the kick down cable,If you cant figure how to loosen it, just disconnect it from the throttle body. then test drive to see a difference. IF still shifts very hard, you may have a "shift kit" installed. this was done when the tranny was rebuilt.. I personally install extremly hard shift kits in my vehicles, my 1992 gmc K 1500 X-cab will shift so hard it "BARKS" the tire, and slides the back end of the truck over 1 foot, it feels like the truck is going to break. I LOVE IT...

My 98 Buick Riviera is shifting a little hard. I

Actually what you are driving has a very strong transmission, what i would suggest is getting the fluid and filter REPLACED not FLUSHED. This should solve your problem depending on miles.

Wanna know if i can put a tranny for basic 1995 riviera in my Supercharger

you will most probably need a beefed up tranny to take the power of the engine, I have just installed a 350 supercharged chevy motor in my sons car with a Turbo 350 transmission and a shift kit which I have been told by an auto trans mechanic may not take the power of that engine.
It is costing him $1500 australian to have it reconditioned so I hope it will survive the rides

Hard Shift 1998 Chevy 1500

Hello;
I need to know the codes so I can properly diagnois your problem. Here are a few tips though. Your electronics inside the transmission may be going out. You should start by changing the fluid and the filter. Let me know if there is a lot of metal or fiber shavings in the pan. Put new fluid in and clear your codes. See how it shifts and then let me know what is going on with it. Hope this helps.
Thanks;

I get a very loud clunk when I put the transmission into drive or reverse. I remove my foot from the accelerator to allow the transmission to go to the next gear otherwise it goes above 3,000 rpm to...

Try replacing your fluid filter in your transmission first. If that does not work, your tranny could have the gears wearing out. To solve the shifting problem, have a shift kit put in your transmission.
