Primera 1996 the inside light stays on once the car is turned off and key removed from ignition. the light on dashboard indicating that one of the doors is open even though all doors/trunk and bonnet is closed. This drains the battery life. Is there a wiring fault or fuse?? This is for a Nissan Primera 1996

Sounds like the anti theft system is active m try this process. Turn the key on. Do not attempt to start. Wait 10 minutes. Turn key off. Turn key on. Wit for theft light to go off. Now attempt to start.

1. Turn the ignition switch from Position 0 to ON 6 times within 10 seconds.
2. Then turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch.
3. After 2 seconds, the system will enter programming mode and will flash the warning lights twice.
4. Press and HOLD the unlock button on the Plip.
5. While pressing the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times.
6. Release the unlock button.
7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming.
8. Repeat procedure 4 to 7 for up to 4 plip key's.
9. When completed turn ignition ON, and the warning lights will flash 2 times.
10. Remove key, and check all plip key's for operation.
NOTE : The programming mode will stop when either the ignition is switch ON, 4 plip keys have been programmed or no input signal either from the switch or plip keys has been received for 120 seconds.

1 Turn the ignition key counter clockwise in the driver's side door to unlock the car. This deactivates the alarm long enough for you to gain access to the vehicle. Then, place the key in the ignition and turn the key until it clicks once. This starts the car's battery, but doesn't ignite the engine. The LED light on the dashboard should stop blinking, indicating the alarm is temporarily disabled.

2 Locate the box for the alarm under the dashboard on the driver's side of the car. Then, look for the override button on the box. Typically, the small button is either red or black. With the ignition key in the "on" position, press the override button and hold it in until the alarm chirps once. This disables the alarm until you manually reactivate it.

3 To reactivate the alarm, turn the key to the "on" position and press the override button once. The alarm chirps twice, indicating the alarm is active.

check your cables at the battery and the starter,,make sure they are clean and tight and check the water level in your battery if it is not a sealed battery and also have your battery tested, if everything is ok, it seems like you have bad starter.

I have the same problem with my primera, 04 plate. Did you fix it?

replace the ignition module

I found this on a website try this

1. Put the newly cut Master key into the keyway and turn it to the ON (RUN) position. A "security" indicator
light on the dashboard will stay on for 10 minutes.
2. Within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON (RUN)
position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes (Do not remove the key.)
3. Again, within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON
(RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (Do not remove the key.)
4. When the light goes off the third time, the new key is programmed into the computer and will start
the car. Remove the key and then re-insert it into the ignition lock and start the car.
All previously stored codes will be erased. To stop the process at any time, simply remove the key and use
an existing key to start the car.

I would just disconnect or remove the ringer from the car. Under the dashboard. Listen until you locate it and remove it. They have a timing sensor that is suppose to turn off the ringer after a few seconds. It seems this timer has gone bad. if you replace the whole ringer circuit it may work. But if you have a fairly good memory to take out the key, you can just disconnect the ringer. But it is up to you.

Lock: Left button will lock all doors. Double chirp indicates locked.
Unlock: Right button will unlock driver's door only. Hold unlock button app 6 seconds, it will unlock all doors including rear gate. Single chirp indicated unlock.
If the car chirps or lights flash 4x the alarm was triggered.
Panic. Press both buttons to activate emergency honk and flashing lights.
Valet mode: With optional alarm only Press the red alarm button on the left of the steering wheel. The light will quickly double flash. To re-set back to normal mode, press the red alarm light button again

Battery failed and lights flashing?
Parking lights will flash when the vehicle's battery is disconnected and reconnected.
To stop lights from flashing, either:
Press remote transmitter “UNLOCK” button once OR turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position and press programming button for one second (see below).
The vehicle interior (courtesy) light and door open warning light (DOOR AJAR indicator) will then illuminate for 60 seconds when the ignition is turned off, or until the doors are locked with the remote transmitter. Yes, the dashboard instrument panel lights will flash when the parking lights flash.
Programming or Overriding the Alarm when you have lost the remote
Open driver's door.
Turn ignition key to 'On'
Press and *hold programming button* in (see diagram, button under dashboard)
After 15 seconds the the door locks will cycle 3 times. Do not release Programming button
Press lock (left) button the remotes to be programmed. The door locks will cycle one time.
Exit programming mode by releasing Programming button under dashboard and turning key to off.

Code Alarm Programming Button is under dashboard on the kick panel by the driver's left knee, left of the steering column. If you can't find it, it might still be tucked up in the wiring harness higher up in that same general area. The botton is recessed in a plastic ring (see diagram).
This button must be pressed while programming remotes or if the battery was disconnected and the lights are flashing.
