The module is about the size of a mans hand and has four wire connectors going to it, I think it is black, should be on or near the fire wall/bulk head. in the engine compartment.

I have a 1999 4 cylinder pontiac sunfire. Onve the engine gets warm the engine dies and wont start again until it sets for a jb out 15 minuets. When it does start again it will do the same thing over and...

It's not easy to properly diagnose without hands on, however when ignition module gets defective it can not send signal from the ckp sensor ( crankshaft sensor) to the pcm. If the pcm does not see signal from the ckp sensor through the ignition module the vehicle will shut off. So basically ignition module is getting while the engine is running not allowing communication with the vehicles computer (pcm) . Also check terminal connections at the ignition module . have ign. module checked.

One coil serves those two cylinders (no. 1 and 4), so try repllacing that coil.

i`m assuming this is a dohc motor.have you checked the ignition module and the connections at the module.its located on the cover where the electrical connector fastens to it.it could also be a jumped timing chain possibly by a bad chain tensioner or worn out chain.
