If the gas milage has suddenly dropped out it is a good bet the O-2 sensors (oxygen sensor) failed. The O2 sensors, located within the exhaust senses the exhaust from the engine varying the air/fuel mixture. When the sensor fails the ECU will make the mixture heavy with gas rather than lean (too lean and you can burn up components of the engine.)
Take the care to a good pasrts store or shop and have them read the engine ECU to see if any errors show for the O2, or other, sensor.
I hope this may have assisted you,
Tom
Check the condition of the air filter, and the spark plugs.
SOURCE: POOR GAS MILEAGE
Have you changed the fuel filter? I know it sounds weird but a plugged filter will make a truck use more gas. The computer tries to compensate for less fuel by commanding the injectors to open longer. Also a plugged filter will cause excess back pressure on the fuel pump making it loud.. Good Luck.
