I bought a 2004 VW Jetta GLS 1.8L Turbo earlier today. It has a clean carfax and recent (within a week) negative dealer diagnostics...it overheated. Well...it overheated within 2 minutes of hard acceleration from 20 to 70 mph. The fans do not appear to be working...help!! Suggestions?

Hold the dealer accountable, for starters! It could be the thermostat, a coolant leak, a severe engine problem, who knows? You shouldn't have to concern yourself with diagnosing and fixing a car you bought yesterday, unless you bought it as-is.

2004 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 non-turbo. My MK4 VW shows P2177 and P3211. Help!

Question edited for clarity and toss in some CAPS.
Question moved to model category.

P2177 is Fuel Air sensor showing Lean mixture, so it is dumping more fuel and sooting up plugs and the catalytic converter. After fixing, you will need a system cleaning additive.

I cant find the dip stick for the auto transmission. I looked everywhere. Just dont know. I never owned a VW before, and bought a 96 Jetta gls auto. Help please....

it is my understanding that you have to take it to vw dealer or a vw mechanic and have them check or change tranny fluids. not positive bout it but that is what i was told. daughter just got a jetta turbo and that is what we were told by a friend of hers that has one.

Hello - I just bought a 2004 Jetta - day one - mil light came on. Car runs fine. What could it be? 2 mechanics checked the car over before I bought it and carfax said it was one owner no problems.

Have VW check it out. I had just got my 04 GLI with 70,000 miles when the light came on. The thermostat triggered the light and so I had the whole timing belt, thermostat, and water pump service. Worth the money.

2004 Jetta GLS. Main cooling fan remains on after car turned off.

"Already had replaced: both cooling fans, fan control module, coolant temp sensor, fan switch, 4 terminal connectors. No trouble codes reported in VW electronic diagnostic test. 2 different VW dealers and and my mechanic threw in the towel. Any suggestions greatly appreciated."

This is a common problem with the VW..and no one has an answer WHY. (including VW mechanics)

THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE and should be implemented
