Could be any number of things including a weak relay or fuel pump.
You'll need to figure out if you are loosing spark or fuel when it stops running to know which system to troubleshoot.
If you are talking a/c the low pressure switch stops the compressor from working if the gas pressure is low. This is to stop the compressor from running and either sucking in air or running out of oil which circulates through the system. Replacing the switch which should be at the receiver/dryer (that little round cylinder before the condensor radiator) but I suspect that you have a leaking system that no amount of gas refills will fix until something is done to rectify the leak
Does your car have the `lamp out'indicator system? It's more complicated. My manual shows fuse #28 , a 15 amp fuse powers the brake bulbs. Is this the one you changed? A bulb can be out for a long time and you don't notice it,then the other burns out and you think they both went out at the same time, but they might not have, see? So check the bulbs and make sure you got that brake switch installed correctly. don-ohio (:^)
if its an auto box it could low on oil to check hand brake on start car pot in drive and check gear box dip stick for level if its a manual then its clutch related
You should have a diagnostic performed to make sure you find the right problem. Otherwise, you could replace several things before finding the right one.
No quick fix. If you are lucky, it is just the flexplate snapped loose from the torque converter. There is usually a door that you take off to access the 4 bolts that hold the flex plate to the converter. Remove that door to see if the bolts have sheared off.
1999Mercury Sable died...acts like battery dead or alternator, however with key off there is a click, click sound and as soon as you giggle ignition and make sound stop ...there is power but as soon as you turn key on it all goes dead again.. battery takes a charge and don't think its an alternator problem.. think it is a relay switch...possibly the windshield wipers.. have noticed that the wipers turned on for no reason a couple of times and once again when I was messing with this situation
