O2 Sensor for Dodge dakota 98

Have you checked the wiring that goes to both the Crank and Cam sensors? Most of the time the wires are close to a heat source (ie: exhaust manifold) and the plastic covering starts to melt causing the cooper on wires to make contact and thus making engine stop, you will have to take off the protective covering as well as tape around the wires and inspect each and every one. Had same problem with Dodge caravan, it turns out the Crank Sensor plug wires were melted together. Good Luck.

02 sensore after the cat

Bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor heat circuit low. Look for broken wires or corrosion on connecter to the upstream O2 sensor on passenger side. If no apparent breaks or corrosion replace that oxygen sensor.

all you need is a 7/8 wrench. the o2 sensors are located in the exhaust system. just un plug them and unscrew them. not that hard to do if doing it for the first time.

What is the code that you have? The speed sensor and speedometer is all electrical. So the problem must be electrical. You may have a bad "new" sensor also, it doesn't happen much but sometimes these things don't work out of the box.

I am pretty sure each O2 Sensor has it's own code.
If you have the code scanned again, it will tell you which one it is, bank 1 or bank 2 . before or after the Cat.

YOU HAVE 4 O2 SENSORS. YOU HAVE 2 PASSENGER SIDE.ONE O2 SENSOR ON EXHAUST MANIFOLD THE OTHER ONE AFTER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.YOU HAVE 2 ON DRIVERS SIDE.ONE O2 SENSOR ON EXHAUST MANIFOLD.THE OTHER O2 SENSOR AFTER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

As far as the O2 sensor goes you should probably replace both. But the CEL should have given you a code to know which O2 sensor was acting up. In my experience it is almost alway the one before the Cat converter. As far as the clicking...Check your battery and see if enough power is getting to the starter. You can have it tested at an auto parts store or just try to jump it. If it jumps, you need to charge or replace your battery if it won't charge. If the battery is good however, you probably need to replace the starter. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!

One of them is located on the driver's side of the motor and connects to the exaust manifold.

P0161 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
check the wiring to the bank 2 sensor, that is the one behind the catalytic converter on the opposite side from the bank where #1 cylinder is located, see firing order diagram below.
