I think the problem might actually be 1 of the relay's , not the fuses.

  • Anonymous Feb 21, 2011

OK, sorry I forgot when I orginally typed it I meant to say Relay's and not fuses...went over to van again this evening, and used a tester and the second auto shut off relay tested good with the exception of one out slot had no light repsonse at all.

1995 Ford Taurus automatic 3.8, PCM "Buzz" no spark, no fuel

It is possible that the ASD (Auto Shut Down Relay) has gone bad. The ASD provides signal/power to the fuel pump and to the engine coils. It is usually located in the fuse box under the hood. The fuse box cover should indicate it's location. The ASD is often a square relay and there may other such relays that look the same and have the same configuration of pins in the fuse box. If so, one may be the horn relay. Often relocating one of the other nonessential relays (horn relay) to the ASD position will allow the engine to start. If so, replace the old ASD relay.

Location alternator fuse

Hi Aaron, I'm glad to help! The alternator fuse you are looking for also runs the auto-shut-down relay. NOTE: If your vehicle starts a runs then this fuse is good. If the vehicle will not start and runs then its FUSE 3 a 20 amp fuse inside the power distribution center under the hood. NOTE: Next you'll want to check the FUSEABLE LINK. This link attaches to the battery cable its a big GREEN colored wire. If you can grab the wire and it stratches while your pulling it, then it need to be replaced. CAUTION: If this wire is blown, then you need to replace the alternator as well for a dead short internally. If both of these or good, the only other option would be the Engine Controller. NOTE: Before replacing the Engine Controller, take the alternator off and have it check at the auto-parts-store. Most of the time its the alternator and not the engine controller. Hope this help and have an awesome day Aaron.

2000 Grand Caravan cranks but doesn't run. If I bypass the automatic shut-down relay it'll run for about 3 seconds, but starts surging and conks out. Both the cam & crank position sensors test okay....

the pcm energizes that relay. should be a dark blue wire with a yellow stripe going from pcm pin 67 to pin 8 on power dist center. check all fuses then check wire. Is the check engine light on with key on? Possible bad pcm.

Fuses are good replaced cam, crank sensers auto shut down buzzes for as long as fuel pump runs after turning key to on postion

if the auto shut down is just buzzing it is the relay engaging and disengaging really fast you have either weak voltage or weak control signal coming from the pcm possibly a bad wire. also try to switch relay out with one that is similar in the fuse box to see if it is a bad relay.

All of a sudden my guages are not moving and my engine light has come on but the car still runs. I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan

Take a look at the fuse-box and see if there is a blown fuse. Try to get over to Auto-Zone, they will read the codes for free and tell you what the codes are. If they can't tell what the definition is, still get and write down the digits and tell me what they were. Good-luck.

No power at the fuel pump or at the coil

I have been around several mid 90's dodge vehicles that the fuse for Auto Shut Down blows for no apparent reason. When this happens the vehicle will crank but not start. The fuse is under the hood in a black plastic box and is labeled under the lid. Fuse costs about $5 at auto parts stores. Keep a spare in the glovebox. My father's 92 dakota did this until the ECM failed. After replacement the fuse never blew again.

Fuse box diagram for 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. I am trying to .locate where the fuel pump relay is connected to the fuse box. To detach to replace fuel filter.

The panel or the housing normally lists the names of the items that are controlled by the fuses. If that doesnt work, disconnect the battery terminals and you are good to go
