Had similar problem with wifes alero, Turned out to be the alternator. Seems that the car freaks out when not enought power is supplied. Take to autostore and have them test it. Free test, $130 part. Easy to install with basic socket set.

you are going to have to take the dash apart. You probably have a short in the connector where it comes into the gauge cluster

I am experiencing the same problem today while driving in lunch hour traffic. My car will still crank and run but nothing on my dash board works and neither does my air or radio now. If anyone has a solution (without it costing an arm & leg) please inform me!!!! Thanks!
i have a 2000 olds alero also and im haveing the same problem.ever find out the cause?
i also have a 2000 oldsmobile alero with the same problem,all gauges and lights dont work.this problem just started with my alero.any solutions yet?
My oldsmobile alero 2004 randomly lost all dash lights as well as my tail lights. I check all of the fuses and no luck.
